  1. My husband and I have 7/12-7/28 off and looking for climbing families with little kids. I have a three year old and a one year old. I was thinking 2-3 days of climbing with really laid back days. Not really interested in non-families as I feel like people without kids don't really get the very very very relaxed pace at which we parents need to climb I have been climbing for over 10 years and can lead most 5.9's comfortably and can hang dog 10's. Either reply here to directly email me at clee03m@yahoo.com. Thanks! Christine
  2. I'm looking for ski equipment for my toddler who will be not quite 3 this winter. His feet are fairly good size where he wears 8.5 toddler already. If you have toddler gear, please email me at clee03m@yahoo.com.
  3. Mike and I did that 5.8 multipitch on our road trip when we moved to WA from OH. Good to see pictures of your trip. Can't wait to join you again! I'm thinking I will be climbing more next season when the wee one is walking.
  4. I want to get my toddler out in the snow this winter. He will be little shy of 3. From what I read, kids that early can only ski. Are there other snowboarding parents who got their little one skiing? Did you have to learn to ski? I guess I am a bit nervous about the cost of having to get new gear and such. If I need to learn to ski, what kind of gear should I get? What are good beginner boots and skis? I am totally ignorant when it comes to anything to do with skiing. Thanks.
  5. I should've invited you to my baby shower.
  6. Can they climb Index 5.9? You probably know all this. Lower town wall has some 5.9's and under. Princely Ambitions 5.8, Godzilla 5.9, Roger's Corner 5.9. GNS's first pitch is easy, but you won't make friends hogging that first pitch. The country has trad climb going up the door that is 5.7. I think GM is 5.9 though first pitch is not really worth doing. Toxic shock is 5.9 and across the way is a 5.7. All in all, not really ideal for group of kids, I think.
  7. CAMP Easy Full Body Harness. Bought it in fall of 2009. I am a serious climber but due to some medical conditions, I was not able to climb for my entire pregnancy. So the harness is very lightly used. Not the most comfortable harness, and the one gear loop is annoying, but they do the job. I have done hanging belays and multiple pitch raps in them. Retails for about 50. I live in Gig Harbor, but I can meet you in Tacoma or Seattle. Please contact me on clee03m@yahoo.com

  9. CAMP Easy Full Body Harness $20. Bought it in fall of 2009. I am a serious climber, but due to some medical conditions, I was not able to climb for my entire pregnancy. 10. I have Deuter Kid Comfort III. Liked the built in rain and sun shade. I think the key is to have the gear sit below your kid as opposed to sitting behind the kid. We originally bought a REI brand kid carrier where the gear would sit behind the kid, and talk about wrong weight distribution. I am surprised how much gear we can fit into our Deuter Kid and comfortably carry the pack. We usually go for day climbing, but we fit a lot of climbing gear as well as baby gear in our pack.
  11. I am putting together a family climbing day at Exit 38 next Saturday. I am thinking a short day from about 10-2. I am envisioning kids swinging/climbing and easy chill day of climbing. Let me know if you are interested. Emailing me at clee03m@yahoo.com would work best as I don't check this site often. Christine

  13. Not true, my friend! Slowly but surely, I am starting to compile a list of climbing parents. I don't live in Seattle, and I have already scoped out my gym's parental situation (Edgeworks in Tacoma). As I always say, where there is a will, there are climbing partners
  14. Hi, I wasn't sure if this would be considered 'spray' on partners section since I am not posting a specific date, so I am posting it here. I have a 15 month old, and I am looking for parents for climbing partners. I have been climbing for 9 years, have gear, can lead, climb both sport and trad. I have not been bouldering much, but I am thinking about getting a crash pad. Please email me at clee03m@yahoo.com if you are looking for parents for partners. My husband doesn't climb much, but he is a safe belayer, and he is more than willing to come along to make adult to kids ratio better. Thanks, Christine Edited to say, if you are a toddler friendly noob, feel free to contact me as well

  16. How old are your kids? I have a 14 month old and I am always looking for climbing partners with little kids. Christine
  17. We live in Gig Harbor near Tacoma. I can meet you anywhere in WA, and while not this weekend, Smith and Squamish. Carpooling with one person may be a possibility, although I really don't think it is a good idea since my son gets irritable in the car at times.
  18. Hi, I am looking for some baby/kid friendly climbing partners this weekend. I want to go climbing with husband (doesn't climb much but an awesome belayer) and my 14 month old son. Another parent(s) with babies/kids would be great! Or other baby loving climbers I am open to bouldering, sport, or trad. I have gear and can lead. I don't have a crash pad but open to buying one. Of course no choss piles as rock fall would not be an option, and no super difficult approaches (aka Leavenworth buttslide) as we would be carrying our baby in a pack. Contact me at clee03m@yahoo.com as I don't check this site often. I am looking to build some family oriented climbing partners, so is you already have plans for this weekend or can't go, feel free to contact me for future climbs. I am a safe climber with about 9 years of climbing experience. I have climbed at many different places including Yosemite, New River Gorge, Red River Gorge, Wild Iris, etc.
  19. Hi, I am 27 weeks pregnant and starting to think about climbing after the baby is born. Ideally I would like experienced climbers in the Seattle/Tacoma area for outside who would be OK with having the baby along. As my kid would be too young to climb, I think I am looking for partners who would be climbing and not necessarily belaying little children for the majority of the time. This would work out best, I think, if you also have babies/young kids. I have been climbing for about 7 years, could climb 10s trad and 11s sport before getting pregnant. I have gear. I would like to meet up at a gym and get to know each other as to not waste time when spring comes with introductions. I check my email more often: clee03m@yahoo.com Thanks, Christine
  20. One of the guidebooks call Orbit run out. I am not a huge fan of run outs. Is it better protected to go with Mary Jane Dihedral? How is the climbing on Mary Jane? Is it a pretty line? Would it be a shame to miss out on several pitches of Orbit? Thanks, Christine
  21. What are you rapping off of?
  22. No. MW. Nothing hilrious about our little epic. I really hope I don't do that bush wack again. We left some blood on that non-trail (OK my partner did who was wearing shorts).
  23. Someone said it involves rapelling. Is this true?
  24. My partner and I did Outer Space and got lost on descent and bush wacked for 3 1/2 hours. I'm going back for Orbit this weekend. Any beta on descent? Thanks, Christine
