My friends with the worst climbing related injuries were roped. You have the same elements of control over the risk you take bouldering, soloing or roped climbing. The edges between them can blur. When does a high-ball become a solo? A bouldery start ends at the first clip/piece. With the exception of top-roping you are generally risking serious injury on some level and rely on your judgment and skill to save your ass.
