I have a large noggin also, 7 7/8 hat size, and picked up a Grivel Salamander. Fits well without a hat, but gets a little tight with anything thick underneath. Have only used it in alpine, but fit well. It was 50 bucks on REI's website a while ago, maybe give that a try.

What type of helicopter is that? Almost looks like a Coast Guard or something. -
If ya look right below product description it says shipping weight, so unless they are doing magic things with bubble wrap these days I'm still going with one. Product Details * Shipping Weight: 3.2 ounces

Shipping weight is 3.2 ounces, looks like just one quickdraw.

Hey, just saw this, I would possibly be interested in future trips depending on the date.

Check your PM's.

Yes they do, a black mark about 1-2 inches long.

I am looking at buying a package of a Mad Rock rope and 10 quickdraws, and have the choice of a 10.2 Non-dry and a 9.8 dry rope. I am a newbie, thus the post here, so I am not super concerned with the rope wearing out super quick, because once it does I will then know what I actually want/need. Basically, is there any difference that would matter? Here is the rope info: http://www.madrockclimbing.com/madrockropes.aspx And here is the package: http://www.climbaxe.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=70 Thanks for the help.

I have no kids but now have some damn good ideas with what to do with them thanks to this thread. That and this strange warm fuzzy feeling.

http://www.climbaxe.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=70 Looks kind of like a good deal to a newbie like me. Would this be worth it?

Ha, I was waiting for someone else to post these, because I almost did. The things you learn.

What happens if you use a prussik cord that is smaller than 2/3 of the main rope? Won't grab?
-
Red Chili's, but yeah, point taken, lesson learned.

Sounds good, I'll tell them that people on the internet said colored feet/socks are hot. Thanks, sucking it up is the most cheap imagine that, so thats what it is.

Like it says, does anyone have any tips, besides being patient, to decrease the amount of ink that bleeds from my shoe onto my feet. My shoes are only about 3-4 weeks old, so it still may get better, but my feet are nearly totally red after about 45 minutes of climbing inside, so once the summer picks up, it will be a blast. So far all I have thought of is rinsing them in warm water a lot. It is now to the point where in the walk home from the gym the ink runs through my socks and onto the inside of my street shoes. Please help, I am getting sick of pink socks. Thanks, John

Interested in the belay jacket possibly and the sleeping bag. How much lower would you go if I picked them up in Bellingham?
-
Yeah, WUE is awesome, I'm getting about the same to go to WWU. For me at least I am paying in state and a half, which ends up working out to about the same as in state at UO and OSU if I remember correctly. Something to be aware of is there are different requirements for different schools, places like Boise State I think the requirement was around a 2.00 GPA.

REI-Outlet is having a super clearance sale. Roughly 70-80 percent of some stuff. Not much actual outdoors stuff, but there are a few nice jackets and a lot of shirts thrown in there. It says that it does not work with the 20% off coupon, but it did for me. Coupon may actually be gone now since it is now the 8th. Check it out a few good deals.

Tear is a better phrase. Thanks for the help.

Well I managed to put a rectangular hole about 3/4 of an inch long in the chest of my softshell. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix it. On the Rock Climbing forums needle and thread, then Seam Grip over it. The hole is through the softshell layer, but there is a thin layer underneath that will prevent me from getting to the backside of the hole for further waterproofing. basically my options are: 1. Fix the hole. 2. Return the jacket to REI because of a lack of durability. Any thoughts, I'd rather keep the jacket, but is the effort worth it?

Where are you located?

19 year old couch potato who sometimes gets out. Just don't want to end up helping pay for his feeding tube.

No, he's from the same town as my roommate, and I guess he survived, hopefully something else will get him soon.

As far as taking big falls, and the effect on a rope when there is some type of edge for the rope to rub on. This is off the Elwha Bridge.
