  1. I like WC stuff, and that looks like a great harness, but I's got more padding than my pack! I'm really looking for something w/o padding, and pretty light.
  2. So, does it not have any gear loops? I'm thinking of somewhere to store a few pieces for glacier travel.
  3. I'm in the market for a new lightweight harness for alpine and glacier travel. The harness I have now is fine for rock stuff, but absorbs a lot of water and is fairly heavy to begin with (+/- 13 oz, I think.) On the extreme end, I've looked at the CAMP xlh95 (about 3 oz), which might be OK for easy glacier stuff? The description says it has two gear loops, but the pictures only show 2 tiny vertical loops; maybe you add your own? I realize this is a pretty specialized piece of gear, and I'd really only plan on using it for easy glacier stuff. I've looked at the Alpine Bod, but it's not really all that light. Any other suggestions?
  4. I emailed them, and they said they don't repair gear anymore , for free or otherwise. They said to call rainy pass. BUT, I know they'll take them back and give you a new pair if you're "unsatisfied." Some people think that's justified, some don't, so that's your call. I have taken stuff in there, and told them the hole was the result of a fight with an ice axe, and they repaired it no problem. OR is also really good about repairs, whether your fault or not, they'll fix anything for free, and no shipping. I like that gear companies that charge top dollar for their stuff will repair it, keeping it out of the landfills for awhile longer.

    Gear for Muir?

The road is open; it opened a couple weeks back. But, due to construction, there's really limited parking at Paradise, so get there early. I think there's also a shuttle.

    Gear for Muir?

Hiking boots should be fine, as long as they stay dry. Crampons could be useful, might be a great place to try them out if she's never done so. I wish someone would have taken me out on trips like that when I was 10.
  7. I learned of this issue after using lithiums in my tikka xp for a year or so. The headlamp seems to work fine still, but I'll be buying something regulated next time, probably a princeton tec. Maybe petzl will wake up and regulate their headlamps soon.
  8. REI will repair these for free, or at least they have for me. Give them a call.
  9. Called the ranger station this AM, they said the road is driveable to within 2 mi of the TH. Any guesses what the route might be like this time of year? Anyone been up there yet?
  10. Ok, so which one sucks the least? Can I even get in to the one at western as a non student/alumni? What are the good crags up there?
  11. Are there any decent gyms in whatcom or skagit counties? I'm moving up there, and am going to miss the warehouse in Oly. The only one I know of is the Y in B'ham. Any suggestions?
  12. Ok, I'll put in the access forum next time. Anyway, I concur that Ingalls isn't really very close to cascade pass, and info on it isn't really helpful. Access has two "c"s.
  13. Anyone been up to Ingalls peak lately? How far is the road melted out from the trailhead?
  14. Yeah, I realized that Lundin's more of a scramble after I reread the description. Any idea what snow conditions on Chair might be? I'll check out the Snoqualmie/Lundin/Red idea too. Thanks
  15. We're going to be in seattle on sat night, and looking for some alpine rock for a day trip on sunday. We were initially looking at the tooth, but thought maybe we'd try something less obvoius. I've been looking at Lundin Peak. Any beta on this climb? I'm looking for something 5.5 or under that's hopefully melted out (don't mind a snow filled approach, figure we'll need axes.) Any other suggestions up near snoqualmie? I'm assuming the teanaway road is still snowed in?
  16. We're a couple of beginner AT skiers, and we'll be in twisp for new years. We're going to be renting some gear, and lookin for somewhere to go try it out. Any suggestions for a couple of day trips? Don't have Avy transcievers, so we'll be checking the forecast and planning accordingly.
  17. I'll take the 160 skis, skins and Fritschi bindings. I'll PM you with info. Edit: I realized these bindings are a size small, so won't work for me.
  18. I'm looking for a pair of AT bindings. I'd prefer Dynafits, but would look at others; also I'd look at bindings mounted to skis. I'm 5'10" and 165lbs. Also, I'm looking for boots (size 26.5), bindings and skis for a friend who's 5'3" and 135lbs. We're both beginners, and are looking for something to be able to get out try doing some faceplants in the backcountry. I'm in Olympia.
