The latter doesn't happen without the former. The route wasn't modified. As stated before that would be 'retrobolting'. The route has been modified several times over the last five years by rockfall and people tearing holds off, but that's it. You want to take a shot at getting the closure lifted or modified? Have at it. Clean out one of the column routes? Very cool! I have a tool set just for that you're welcome to use. An anchor, pin, or bolt needs replacing? I have plenty of hangars, bolts, pins, rings, and slings available for you to use and a drill and hammer if you need one. Trash needs to be picked up? Pick it up and haul it out. Big, bad loose rock juju somewhere? Sort out a strategy for dealing with it safely with the BRSP. Need any help doing any of the above? Pm me here, I'm up for it. Bitch and whine like a little cyber girl and do nothing? You're on your own.

Kenny, 'rebolting' lacks the 'tro' that would redefine it as 'retrobolting'. The difference between the two could only be considered subtle under some pretty special circumstances. perhaps, but only in a special understanding of it all. you did "re(tro)bolt" YW, though, against the wishes of the first ascentionist, too, i might add... (Jim said you never asked if he minded that you did that, but you said that you had talked with him about it and he told you it was ok). several of the bolts have moved (ive seen where you patched the old holes - you'd have to be blind to not see them) and i'm not sure what effect this has on the route but i'm sure that when/if jim climbs it this year he will have plenty to say on how it is all f**ked up now.

Kenny, I see you seem intent on keeping on a roll here. Hey, the loose rock load just above Grassy Ledges up to the short chimney had built up to a ridiculous level and sending grapefruit size rocks down to the SE Corner's base. Could have been cleaned out or stacked earlier during the pre-open work session, but of course (surprise) it somehow just didn't happen. But what the hell, you just keep at it here, it's so damn productive and helpful. i think we need to all thank joseph for all his hard work, if it wasn't for him u all would DIE!!!!!!! rockfall has never occured at beacon in the past, count urself lucky that joeseph showed up when he did cause you would all be dead...

Well, at least it's large enough to adequately cover your grave. Ujahn had been talking up this finger crack route he'd been cleaning elsewhere. I went out one day and soloed climbed the route using his fixed line. I get up under this column that is the right side of his "fantastic Fingercrack". I look carefully and as the climbing was hard there and as I'm edging up directly under it notice that the damn thing is not touching the main wall on any of it's sides. It appears to be free hanging like an icecycle. It's just hanging free right over my head like the sword of Damoclese ready to chop my neck which I'd stuck right out there....holy crap, I can't reverse the moves without weighting the rope and the rope is going to put pressure on the upper part of this death block somewhere (that I can't even see from below) I don't know it my weight would dislodge the thing.....I had to weight it eventually. I felt so lucky that thing didn't fall off there as it would have been instant death. I come back and describe this to him, and we show up the next weekend with my pry bar. He goes up to lever and I was @ a 1/4 mile back ground spotting as he cranked this thing: which turned out to be @ 15' across and about that long, 2" out from the wall- @ 100' up. It moved remarkably easy and the roar and crash, despite being a long distance from my cush spot, still had me scrambling and moving at high speed to duck for cover behind the boulder I had been resting on. It was so loud!

hippy!!! size matters i reckon. seems much easier for small companies to treat their employees well - the bigger the organization, the more impersonal the relationship between owner and employee becomes, and the easier to screw them. kinda like slavery in that regard, perhaps? reading narratives of former slaves, there seems a similiar trend - satisfaction w/ servitude was much more common in small settings, much less so on huge plantations. you haven't a clue ivan??? but i think u mean well stud

OK -time to put up or shut up, how much more than your competitors are you paying YOUR employees? Maybe I should walk away from this and go to work for you, oh blessed great employer jb who does so much for so many. I must have been wrong about you as strictly based on your posts you sound like a know-nothing parasite. How many employees do you have? I tend to agree with JB on more things than not, certainly on this particular post, so as a business owner and employer I thought I'd share my employment practices. I've got 5 employees, and I pay them as much as I can, including health insurance, dental insurance, vacation pay, sick pay, and flexibility with regards to unpaid time off. I think I'm roughly 10 to 15 percent over the competition in terms of total compensation, but folks in construction aren't always that forthcoming about this topic. A few years back I did have a conversation with one of my best competitors, and he did share info based on my promise that I wouldn't try and steal any of his people, so I'm not completely whistling in the dark. My employees are my greatest single business asset, and I want them to feel both valued by me and proud of their work. Perhaps more importantly than the compensation numbers, I encourage everyone to do their best and follow their own sense of how best to do things. Empowering the employees with authority over their own work is a good thing for them, the clients, and the company. Funny thing is, this is also a successful business strategy. Employee satisfaction and retention matters. My clients appreciate having the same folks they've come to know and love come back to work on their homes, and they notice the respect and attitude that flows throughout the company. In an industry where 95% of businesses fail on a ten year cycle, we're at 22 years and looking to weather this particular downturn just fine. Oh, I'm sure I personally could make more money by paying my employees as little as possible, but we wouldn't be doing the same work for the same people. I wouldn't be as happy or proud of my company either. i basically take what's left over with my business, does your wife work OFF???

don't bother, i'll just call the ranger station. why wouldn't it be a serious question, chances r i won't have to install any bolts in the first place and you can TR hang dog another one of my routes like you did on this one MONKEY BOY
