You even bother to argue with PP? You'd have a tougher time with a chia pet.

Sounds more like an invitation than a demand.

She was strongly advised not to veto. Bad political move, for sure. The option proponents of the bill thought she'd take would be to ignore it...it would have then become law, but without her name attached to it. Guess the AG in her just wouldn't let her leave well enough alone.

bin Laden never demanded that we Yanks convert to Da One Tru Faith, actually. Other's filled in that blank for him.

You can still get donuts AND a sandwich at Timmy Horton's. 30 years behind is OK by me.

It's often and conveniently forgotten that OBL had stated political demands for the US: 1)Get out of the Muslim world (Saudi Arabia, at that time) 2)Stop supporting Israel (against the Palestinians) It's actually a reasonable agenda that many American's support. There might have been some room for improvement in his methods, however...they were a bit broad brush. Whether revenge is 'good for you' is entirely cultural. The New Yorker had a good piece on Papua New Guinea's has a long standing code of personal revenge. In it, a fellow who crippled his uncle (who had committed some previous offense in the distant past) claimed only to feel "happy" about it. No remorse, no guilt at all. Cultural norms determine whether certain acts, whether killing a slave or puking on your date, are acceptable or not. Still, there seems to be some moral evolution amongst the angry hairless monkeys and it does seem to trend towards greater tolerance, desire to understand, and willingness to engage with folks further and further from family, friends, tribe, nationality. Violence, obviously, is usually a setback in this progression.

Hey, it was more dignified than "Military Budget Cut".

Yeah, I'd say wanting to parade any human being around like a show dog qualifies you. No cheering required.

Doesn't logical and moral consistency require you to criticize Obama for all of the breeches of international law, the Geneva conventions, etc that culminated in the use of millitary force for the targeted assassination of a non-combatant in a foreign country? It's fascinating to see people who worked themselves into a lather or righteous anger over waterboarding the likes of KSM give a shrug and a fist pump to practices like blowing entire families - women, children, grandparents, etc + the target - to pieces with Predator strikes, and killing Osama and everyone else in the compound with automatic weapons. If you're against waterboarding KSM, you can't be neutral on, much less giving fist pumps to direct assassinations of targets like OBL, much less actions where people who had nothing to do with terrorism are killed alongside them. Quite the stunning versatility of convictions on display, there. Yup, and I continue to do actively do my very small part to bring this administration's actions in line with what I believe are basic human rights principles...just as I have for the past 20 years. I'm not against removing a proven threat like OBL, I just don't celebrate the death of another. That's a personal sensibility not shared by many, I realize. These are distinctions I don't kid myself that you'll even get, of course. In the end, and as usual, your arguments make erroneous assumptions about people and groups you actually know nothing about, but when strawmen provide the backbone for most of your views, that probably doesn't matter too much.

"I've never wished a man dead, but I've read some obituaries with great pleasure." -Mark Twain

I'm with you on this, buddy. Cheering for anybody's death seems a bit too retro for me.

I spotted a die cast predator drone toy in the window of an antique store this weekend. Weird world, fo shiz.

That would have been redundant.

Only those with the randiest principles truly understood the movie.

Except that we share stories of our experiences, and you post... ...oh, never mind. Run on back to your whining about Obama. He just got Osama, but we all appreciate your important concerns.

Hey, sorry you didn't get a mention. There should be enough of your "I, My, and We" in the Beacon thread to give you at least a semi, though.

Krakauer v Mortensen cage match. Loser has to change his name to a more obvious spelling, then read the other's complete works.

What, embellishment isn't good enough for ya all of sudden?

I've also learned that my own corporation, which has one employee, isn't a 'real business'. I'll remember that when I cash my 'pretend paychecks' from my 'pretend clients' this week.

So here we've learned that: business are 'sprinting' out of the U.S. due to either high taxes or those pesky local permits. Kinda weird that our largest industry, auto manufacturing, foreign companies have been moving their operations ON SHORE for years, now. Guess they need to hire new tax accountants. Oh...and you don't need a permit to have an electrician change out a socket. Oh...and it doesn't cost $50,000 in permits to build a house...not even remotely close. I could go on, like ferreting out the source of the magical '30% NOW!!!' in cuts figure that we need RIGHT NOW!!! (to save Medicare in 20 years?) but I think the audience already gets the idea about this poster's kooky ravings.

What is this Ridalyn and chamblis, and why is j_b a miser?

“I’ve got to believe I’m ready to be president, and I don’t.” - Chris Christie, Governor of New Jersey Well Governor, you're doing pretty well in the 'fucking liar' department, so that's a start.... And why Haley Barbour, Governor of the worst shithole state in Our Fair Union, doesn't consider himself a shoe-in is beyond me. Ah, who needs those lame-streamers in the running, anyway? Not while Michelle Bachmann is hard at work promoting her 'Serious Sarah' brand. And for those 'serious conservatives' who need something a bit steadier at the mental helm (but not Stepford Steady)...Mitt's 'wanna ride in my Pantera' permacoiff should provide some timeless comfort, even if his self-contradictory statements don't. Will the Kid from Kenya even need to show up for this?
