    Pig Roast

    Wow, that looks tasty!
  2. wingnuts, they're not just for talk-radio!
  3. NEVER PAY RETAIL!
  4. Might be a bit bigger than you want, but I love my Osprey "Varient 52". It has a lot of climber friendly features and rides like a Rolls Royce. I think you can stretch it to almost 60L with it fully extended. They have a smaller 37L version as well. Varient 52
  5. Well said. Nothing worse than getting a few days into a two-week back county trip and be miserable cause your cheap pants, coat, tent or whatever gear rips apart a few days after you bought it. Also, some brands charge way too much but at least you get a lifetime warranty on many products. I got one of the original TNF "Windy Pass" gortex jackets when they first came out in the late 80's. I used it for about ten years and when it no longer fit and leaked I sent it back to them cause it says right on the tag it has a lifetime warranty. They sent me a BRAND NEW, much nicer version, which I used for about another 10 years. I just sent that one back and they gave me a gift card for the TNF store for much more than the original jacket cost. So, I originally had a jacket that was about $100 back in the day, which served me well for many years and now I am still able to use it/them due to the superior warranty they provide. I have had many other similar experiences with other good brands like MSR, Sierra Designs, Raichle boots and others. Try that at WalMart.
  6. Another one of my favorites is "Minus 148 Degrees" by Art Davidson. If you have not yet read this one, it covers the epic first winter ascent of Denali and is just as good as touching the void (IMO).
  7. Cause some of his pics are BIG, just like the number of pitches he gets done in a day...
  8. I've always referred to the knife I carry on climbs as my JS knife. Hope I never have to use it for that.
  9. Where did you get that idea?
  10. These videos are great and I have been going over many of them to clear the cobwebs on skills I have not used in decades. Thanks for all the effort and time you have invested in making them. What I am wondering about is a "climbing fest" in Florida? WTF??
  11. I, for one, am anxious to see what this promising young climber will do in years to come. On the other hand, naturally gifted climbers and athletes just piss me off as I am not so fortunate.
  12. Nice! I love this shot.
  13. I met him when I lived up there... The real Santa, even sat in the hot tub and had a beer w/him and Mrs Santa. Kind of a perv, that guy was.
  14. Ya forgot yer rope.

  17. Sorry boss, can't make it in this week as I am sick of work and got a real bad case of the Valley Fever!
  18. This one time, on a mountain, we ran out of beer and I nearly killed my partner for the last one. It was really scary! But we made it out alive!!!
  19. You are an ass. But he's got one sweet tent for only $19.
  20. You should also read the book (Touching the Void). It is a quick read and one of my favorite books.
  21. I prefer to bring one full quart of Gatoraid and then use the empty one for this purpose. The smaller opening makes spills less likely and if you have another type of water bottle, there should not be an issue of using the wrong one. The trick is not over-filling it and not letting any get in yer bag. This may not work as well if you are well endowed with more girth than me, however...
  22. This thread is just STHUPER! sickie
  23. I'm just waiting on pins and needles for the hi-def video of the wide stuff.
  24. What makes for a "great bolt climb"? One that has bolts on it, lots of them. Even better if it goes up a rock face.
  25. The North Face Apex Bionic Jacket - Men's Large, blue/grey. I bought this several months ago and have only worn it a few times. In like new condition, no rips, tears or otherwise damaged. This is a very nice wind-proof fleece but I just got another one with a hood on it so I no longer need this one. Retail is $129, yours for $80. Buyer pays shipping, or, I can meet in the Portland/Vancouver/Columbia River Gorge areas. Not only is this a great fleece, but it also has the legendary TNF warranty. I have sent many products back to them over the years and they have always stood behind their warranty. Here is a link with more info... TNF Jacket Linky. I can send more pics if you want them. I take cash or PayPal. I would also be interested in a trade for one of those puffy, synthetic belay jackets (size large).
