http://www.opb.org/programs/ofg/segments/view/1532 around the 7:50 mark you get to see the photos. (For those of you looking to save time: your likeness was not captured on these cameras (nor the wolverines'))

[TR] Mount Hood - Cooper Spur 3/19/2010

Nice report! How was the travel on the Newton Clark? How long did it take to hoof it over to the spur? -
Judas Priest's Jugulator, Velvet Underground's Squeeze, The Doors Full Circle, the incidental music from Leonard Part VI, Doorbell Samples from Home Depot...

Don't worry, it is much better than The Alps. And even though you already know what's going to happen, it is easy to get lost in the struggle and enjoy the film. The filming is great for the climbing scenes. The romantic parts or the parts where they make Kurtz and Hinto out to be not-really-bad Nazis are obviously the producer appeasement. But still, I enjoyed Joe Simpson's Beckoning Silence on You Tube even more than Nordwand and only wish that one could be seen on the big screen. The scenes on there of the traverse really show you a thing or two.

Here's something from a month ago: http://www.portlandhikers.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3984 Probably not a route to do without some careful planning beyond the limits of the internet.

Looks like none of the responders are in alignment with my plans. But now the plans changed anyway. I'll be there the 11th-13th-ish and still seeing if anyone else reading this will be, too.

Lost my new GPS up near June Lake this past week. I have the serial number. Anyone find it?

Some time off and headed to the Tetons in early August. Looking for a safe (!) partner to climb the OS with. PM me if interested.

Use caution: "The weather should begin improving Wednesday with mostly cloudy conditions early with increasing sun breaks expected later Wednesday and rising freezing levels. Sunshine and further rising freezing levels are expected Thursday with freezing levels reaching 9 to 11,000 feet in the north and south respectively by Thursday afternoon. This expected weather should cause an increase in the avalanche danger, especially late Wednesday and again Thursday as the recent snow quickly becomes wet and unstable due to the affects of the sunshine and warming. Wet loose and possibly wet slab avalanches should become likely later Wednesday and again Thursday, with some slides entraining significant snow as they descend."

[TR] Mt Hood - Eliot Glacier (minus the HW plus the BS) 11/2/2007

Now that's an adventure. Thanks for sharing. You've put a smile on many a'face with your post. -

I just finished the loop today. Eliot now has ropes set and many people are using them. Newton was easy for me, but maybe only because I did that one early in the day. And the Coe crossing required some balance work on two logs over the creek. Sandy, Zig Zag, and Whiter River were all cake. There's a sketchy washout (now rebuilt, but not anything you want to hang out on) just north of Ramona Falls. That part may actually be the most dangerous of the whole trail. There's a thread here on the Eliot section: http://portlandhikers.com/forums/thread/22469.aspx Use your head and the whole thing is doable.

Mt. Adams, South Spur, 7/15, info for 1st timers

Spot on about the snow being in good shape around 9am. The glissades are wonderful right now. I don't know if I was dreaming or if I actually went through a field of about a million butterflies... -
I hope the "guide" reads this and explains himself here. "I got a climber here who can't make it, so I'm going to put him next to your tent out of the wind. I hear him tell someone "take my jacket, stay put and I'll be back in about 4 hours". Bill, awesome for you to help, sacrificing a WCR summit for your fellow man.

Over $20,000! Excellent! I went home with a doggy backpack for the dog and some Velvet beer in my belly for me. Guess I got there too late since I didn't see Velvet when I got there.

Did a reconnaissance trip to Cooper last Sept. and it looks pretty doable...just not in late summer--rockfall every few minutes. Wonder how it looks now and if that road is clear. Holga collage from late Sept.

Looking for a safe and competent partner for either Hogsback or W Crater Rim. I've summited Hogsback before, so changing it up a little could be fun depending on conditions. Two things: I like to get an early start and I don't hesitate to turn back if the weather gets ugly since I'd like to live to do this many more times in the future. Let me know your experience level when you PM me.

My condolences to the family. Thanks SAR and support staff. There's still a great amount of hope for the other two, so don't give up.
