Pakistan supply route costs U.S. $100 million per month Oh, the money is there. We just choose to spend it on other things. Now if San Jose or CA would just pull back their efforts and apply it to their pensions we would be set. If the federal government didn't burn through cash as quickly as it does on retarded things like our current defense budget then they could afford to leave more money in the hands of CA residents, who would then have more money available to be restructured into their local government. The citizen's tax burden would be the same, but the money would be going towards schools and pensions and healthcare in their local State, instead of Afghanistan. Like I said, the money is there, it's just being spent on other things.

    What if?

Giving most of it away would be retarded. If you really want to give money away, you should use that 100 million to make even more money -- then you can give money away for the rest of your life. And in your name after your death. You could start the Kevbone Rock Guitar Foundation or something. Personally, I'd hire a nanny, a maid and a cook. Of course, I'd need a bigger house so they could live with me. And then I'd go climbing.

  10. Can I participate?
  11. I don't know about that, look at Peter Croft. Honnold is only a couple of notches above that. I think it's a matter of soloing at a certain level below what you can climb roped. I get what you're saying, but he's taking it into the "speed solo link up for the cameras" direction. I don't feel that this will end with anything other than him dying at this rate. At what level can he call it quits? He's always biting off a bigger piece. He is pushing the limits of free soloing even though he is climbing below his maximum technical ability. I fear that we'll look back on all his videos as prequels to the snuff film. Like dano NTTAWWT. We all gotta die.
  12. yeah, this makes sense, and of course it might make a difference, especially with a "good placement" in poor rock, etc. My point, and I think we agree, is that if you place a piece and think, "this is marginal" (for whatever reason) and then you place a screamer on it, it's still possibly marginal, even if the screamer ends up helping. You wouldn't (or at least, I wouldn't) act as though it were suddenly a good piece -- in my mind, it would still be marginal and I'd want to get a good piece in when I could.
  13. It's not just climbers. In every sport I've ever been in, once you get beyond a certain level of proficiency the douchebag ratio rally cranks up. I even notice this in the computer science world -- I think a lot of people are just poor winners.
  14. Well, I'm talking about a marginal placement, not the size of the pro. For example, a poorly placed #3 is not suddenly good pro (or even better) just cause you slap a screamer on it. Otherwise, why bother learning to set pro at all? Just put screamers on everything.
  15. I'd just add that i wouldn't ever count on a screamer turning a marginal placement into good pro

    My boy!!

yeah, it is negative. Is criticizing Rudy about whether his kid should or shouldn't wear a helmet really the point of this thread? It's his own damn kid, not mine. And it's not like it's some one-time thing -- like I said before, there is always some little snarky comment from Kevbone whenever rudy posts about his son. Fucking annoying.

    My boy!!

I wonder why kevbone always has to say something negative whenever rudy posts something about his kid rocking it? What was it he said last time? "Nice spray" I don't get it.

jesus christ! what are you feeding that kid?
  21. This is a great way to do it, except that it can be a bit harder to escape the belay in case of accidents (and it does use up a bit more rope). However, don't forget to clove the rope back to your harness. John Long actually recommends that you clove the rope back to your harness after every second piece to avoid setting up a death triangle, and to allow for equalization.

Ah, I see. So it's the classic Republican tale of the conservative who attracts the very middle class citizens he is harming with his policies. That's the strangest part of conservatism, I'll never understand it.
