So, I just got back from index, where Tom and I climbed 'zilla. MAN, I'm out of shape. Using the explosive residue swab kit I purchased for other purposes (it's a long story), I collected samples from the ledge in question, and from some of the fresh boulders nearby. As a control, I also swabbed some older sections of rock nearby that appeared uninvolved. After a quick trip down to SeaTac to visit a friend who works for the TSA, we analyzed the samples, and the results tested positive for various nitrogen based explosive residue. In other words, explosive residue was found on the back of the ledge, against the wall, and on the boulders below. The control samples did not test positive, so it cannot be old residue left from the quarry days, or whatever. I am not kidding. Somebody blew up the ledge!!!!!!!!!

This wasn't the first oil disaster, you know.

I have 30 years experience in mining, and it is my opinion that trundling is the only reasonable explanation for this kind of devastation.
-
The spinach e coli outbreak was my fault, too. I LOVE spinach.

I'm not saying it wasn't trundled. I don't know. I'm just saying it is ridiculous to start assuming motivation behind the supposed trundling. Perhaps it was trundled for fun? It probably made a pretty satisfying boom. Perhaps it was trundled because the guy was trying to make it land on his ex-wife. Perhaps it wasn't trundled at all. WHO FUCKING KNOWS. I'm curious why you seem so certain it was trundled to make the route safer? Know what I mean? Personally, it sounds like a lot of fap-fap-fapping. "No, it needs to be moved 9.75 inches to topple, not 6.3!" etc. etc. Are you guys kidding?
-
No. My bike is made out of metal, therefore these open-pit mines are my fault.
-
Oh, so now not only do you know it was trundled, but you know exactly WHY it was trundled?

My vote is for Col. Mustard, in the library, with a pistol.

OMG REALLY? I totally thought this was the first.

Gay bashing now? I don't think most people consider being gay an epithet anymore. Fag.

If drivers on the highway are really at risk now because they were unable to perform avy control then they should close the highway. If the risk was really THAT much greater I think they wouldn't just say, "oh well, cross your fingers" and go home. Know what I mean?

I dunno about that, I think it's the beginning of the end!!!
-
Hey, how about those M's? IS THIS OUR YEAR???? OR IS IT THE BEGINNING OF THE END???
-
Interesting theory. By that reasoning, a single "non-welfare state" that is struggling is likewise proof of the beginning of the end for non-welfare states? Oh look! That blue car is out of gas! OMG IT'S THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR BLUE CARS!!!! brilliant

Lots of redirection here. It really doesn't matter what kind of car he drives, or what kind of carbon footprint he has. His basic argument about the importance of reducing oil dependence is valid, and the validity of that argument is completely unrelated to the carbon footprint of anybody. Sure, you can bash on him for being a hypocrite, and maybe he is (I don't know him) but it still doesn't disprove his argument. He could be the fucking CEO of BP for all I care but his basic point is still valid; oil consumption and dependence is destroying our planet. Why does that argument keep getting diluted with comments about his car? Oh right, I know why. Distraction and redirection. Common tactic, when you have no logical basis for rebuttal. Pointing at the mud on his fins doesn't improve your swimming. I'm sure nitrox and others would LOVE to keep the conversation directed at his car, rather than the (now proven) dangers of off-shore drilling.

pretty sure you mean subjective

we should just get rid of religion. Seriously. It's about time.

Also, incidentally, you keep talking about how "the narrative changed." What the fuck are you talking about? Tvash can say whatever he wants, and Bill can say whatever he wants, and I can say whatever I want, there is not sekret agreed upon "narrative." A few people said that this was photoshopped. Now, if I say something different, suddently "the narrative has changed?" Weirdo. It's important to note that some people saw this picture and assumed it was SO OUTLANDISH that it must be photoshopped. Whereas you saw it and assumed it must be true. Food for thought.

I don't care about "being right." You're the only one who keeps talking about "being right." It could be a real guy. Or not. That's not the point. As I stated, if it IS a real guy, it's an anomaly, and most undocumented workers don't share his opinions, so it's just a picture of some nutjob. There are lots of nutjobs, on all sides of any arguments. Ironically, it's YOU who seems to want it to be true. I don't care really very much either way because I don't believe they're all like that, whereas YOU seem to care very much that not only might he be a real guy, but that he's SO INDICATIVE of the entire illegal immigrant population that the very displaying of this photo is enough to bolster the ENTIRE case of the immigration bill we were discussing.

It's also interesting to note that nitrox refuses to post the source of the image; he posts JUST the image. That's because this image is making the rounds ONLY on all the sleeziest, racist right-wing extremist websites, which he knows will not bolter his position. What a slimeball.
