Hi! HI2U!!! Need a partner for bolting this weekend? Send PM ASAP ROFL LOLZER OMG LMAO
-
Yeah, but they're planning to climb some hard routes! I think it's AWESOME that they have those plans. I don't care if they actually do it. They must be some badass climbers. Some day, I'm going to solo the west face of G4, the Magic Line on K2, and the north ridge of Latok 1. Isn't that awesome?

Film at 11 I'm not sure which was more exciting, his warm up climb, or hearing about what he plans to do next!

Hey, you must be one of those "courteous smokers"! As soon as someone complains that your smoke is tearing their lungs out, you're happy to leave the area. What a nice guy!

Yes! Very much! I just bought a whole bag of bolts. There's so much blank rock out there waiting to feel the bite of my drill, I just don't know where to start! In time I may be able to put up, oh I don't know, maybe 20 new routes! I wonder if I should hire an agent now, or should I wait? I hired my movie agent early, and that worked out great; but this is different. This isn't so much about me, it's more about giving a service to the community! I can't wait to contribute!

Wait a minute. Hold on. That crack is too hard and the pro sux. It's dangerous. I will bolt it now. I'm doing this on behalf of glorious climbing community. For you brahs. Now we can all climb it. It's our right. We deserve to climb this! I deserve it!

Damn doood. What held you up? I did it in 3:30 with 21 draws and only pitched out one or two pitches. Gaper. Hahaha. I'm old, thats my excuse. 4hrs isnt that fast either, but if thats bragging and you go slower then haha on you! oh, and did I say 22 draws I meant 20 to beat your 21, hehe. You guys crack me up. Naaah, doesn't matter how fast you do it. My wife and I would average about 30min a pitch and probably spend the entire day on the thing, but if you simul the hole thing 5 pitches literally turns into 20 minutes or so. Just imagine running up a steep slab with a bit of juggy steeper climbing in between. And like I said others have run the thing in about an hour and I don't think pitched anything out. It's all good. The climb was fun. Not my normal foray but I do remember thinking it was kind of a cool spot to be in half way up this big slab of rock that you otherwise wouldn't bother getting on. Not to brag or anything. But I did it in 3:17:51, and only 14 draws. We tried to see who could go for the biggest runouts. But then, with climbing so easy, it didn't really feel runout. But that's not important. What was important was the connection we felt with the rock, that, that....oneness with the stone, and nature. We were just so psyched to be there. A raven flew over us as we neared top and with it I felt my spirit soaring into the sky...I became that raven. Each rappel was like a pitcher full of life filling my soul with that chi of the stone and nature. Each bolt made me feel alive with wonder of how the drill of a stranger gave us so much. All of us.

You should try men some time. You might like them better.

"Here's something that's never been said before: 'As soon as I shove this red-hot poker up my ass, I'M GONNA CHOP MY DICK OFF!!!!'.... ..you know WHY that's never been said? CAUSE NO ONE WOULD EVER SAY THAT!!! I'M THE FIRST PERSON TO EVER PUT THOSE EXACT WORDS TOGETHER IN THAT ORDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Carlin rocks!

This looks like a photo of the rack when Pope, Raindawg, and RuMR go climbing together...

I remember you. You ordered the Tortellini, and your wife had the seafood salad. You split a bottle of Chardonnay. You should have said hello, I'd gladly have given you an autograph. Oh, and kevbone said: Is it past your bedtime, sonny? The adults will be out here talking about grown up things, you just sleepy sleepy now.

It's an accurate, appropriate statement as applies to Imus. But the real "spine" is going to come when black leaders stand up and say the same thing to those in the black community who continue to produce and glorify vulgar, mysogynist, prison culture as the most visible representation of black American life, one that is often the sole contact and exposure rural whites get to blacks. And, as pointed out above, when whites in positions of influence refuse to continue packaging and marketing this garbage as the same sole exposure for other whites to emulate and further their ignorance.

How does being Mexican 'eliminate racism'? Racism as far as I'm concerned doesn't care who is being discriminated against by whom, and it isn't endemic to whites. Some people will disagree on the basis of racism being connected to "institutional power". Supposing that is true, then, let's imagine that 200 years from now that institutional power in the US is controlled by those of hispanic descent (not a far fetched possibility, really). Is this a guarantee of racial harmony and equality?

True- men don't get any insight into women and the women in turn are not teaching the men anything new. The woman's intuition I think tends to leave them several steps ahead in relationships from an early age. Women know this, but in their imperative to keep the relationship going they aren't able or willing to allow the men to catch up. So the men spend most of their lives trying to keep up to the women as far as relationships are concerned but this is a bit of a disaster because they're rarely in step. So unless both people are pretty sharp there's a lot of conflict and misunderstanding. Indeed it takes men a lot longer- because other men reinforce each other's stagnant views and behavior, and even women who've figured things out aren't capable of sharing this. And women talk with and bond with other women about these issues throughout life, a resource men just don't have, or aren't capable of having.

Some do think about it...then they get made fun of by other men for being a wuss. This, I think, is the heart of the problem. Folks who are happy with the cultural norms (they are the usually ones that directly benefit from it--even at the cost of others') will pressure/ostrasize/deride those who dare to question them. Yet, it is that very group of people--those men who question the norms in the company of other men--who are one of the most important keys to actually changing things. I don't envy those folks. Being a man in today's culture must be confusing and demanding beyond comprehension. It must feel like getting pulled from every direction at once. There's a cultural element of truth in this, but I also think the reality of testosterone and natural male/female interaction makes changing this "behavior problem" an exercise in futility. 5000 years of human history, natural male aggression doesn't seem to have changed much even as acute sensitivities have changed towards women. This reminds me of women who've told me they always wanted a sensitive man, then when they finally met one, they discovered they were bored as hell and missed the hormone fueled male psyche more than they ever realized.

It shouldn't be surprising that the language has developed into one that emphasizes the male- males are the more aggressive gender and every culture is dominated on the visible scale by male influence. Probably genetics. Just be happy knowing that female influence dominates just about everything else, the things you don't see in society- "behind the scenes", the subtle, the inferred.... in every culture? are you sure about that? Maybe not 100%...yes, generalizing...but women tend to play a very subtle, less obvious, but no less influential and important role in almost every culture. Men think they make all the rules, and put up a visible outward show to demonstrate that; meanwhile, the women know better.

On another note, I'm surprised that Imus is taking so much more heat than his producer, who referred to the Rutgers-Tennessee match as "the jigaboos vs. the wannabes". He uses a direct racial epithet and it's kinda getting passed over.

Oops. My excuse here is that Joseph decried the voice of the white male, FWIW. Just trying to be inclusive. Am I Marked for Death now?

yeah some are from Japan and Greenland Do you know what an average Fijian native looks like? A guy I met there who had visited the US before told me American blacks would always assume he was African American, until they heard him speak.
