There is a joint meeting scheduled between the Papal Conclave, the United Nations General Assembly, the Club of Rome, the Elders of Zion, the Orders of Xenu, the Rothschilds, NASA, and the Trilateral Commission to discuss this blockbuster development! Stay tuned...

"The rich are different from you and me; they get to hit and run, almost killing a cyclist, but get off without serious charges because it is hard to be money manager for Smith Barney if you have a record. District Attorney Mark Hurlbert is not charging Martin Joel Erzinger with a felony, because "Felony convictions have some pretty serious job implications for someone in Mr. Erzinger's profession," which is managing billions for rich people."

There is no gullibility here. Jay is fully aware of the mendacity of his positions. The subjects change but the goal and the tactics always remain the same.

"If a job that is currently being done can be done more efficiently by a chimp, a robot, a felony sex-offender, a child, an indentured servant, a prisoner, a mental defective, a retiree, or a slave it should be. It's like an iron law. And even if we're not sure that it could be done more efficiently another way, we should do it anyway. The worker that was previously doing that job will now be free to be unemployed. Yes, it's a curious way to bring an economy based on consumption out of recession, but hey, we've been trying to bust unions for so long it's kinda hard to shift gears now!"

As always Jay, thanks for the reminder that your insights are always value-free.

Yeah? Well we're all getting great seats to the show the anti-Keynesians are putting on. Five years from now this country is going to look like a half-naked street person with a prolapsed bowel.

Which is why he's been outlining the means to save your precious "free enterprise" system for the last 2 1/2 years.
  12. If we hadn't already been feeling the effects of the last 30 years of neoliberal policy, the recent elections at the state level have greased the skids for the country's continued descent into Amerikastan. The good news is Republicans will have a couple more years to blame Obama for the fallout. Pull up a comfy chair...

What's funny is how many times you've voted for Dino Rossi...and lost!

  20. Who decided the best way to meet the challenge laid down by biased corporate right-wing media populated by smug blowhard commentators was to create a biased corporate liberal media populated by smug blowhard commentators? Democrats, pffft.
  21. What does any of this have to do with one person one vote? Is someone getting extra votes? Are corporations (or unions) now casting votes? Please try to answer the question. Read carefully and think hard, you daft bastard. A political system that requires candidates to amass enormous amounts of corporate cash to run for office doesn't need to formally disenfranchise anyone -- by the time candidates make it on the slate they've already been "sanitized for your protection". Furthermore, once candidates are elected, they're expected to deliver returns on their donors' investments. Tit-for-tat campaign contributions in exchange for policy support (often written by the industries themselves), technically illegal but hard to pin down, is so rampant as to be practically the air politicians breathe, it's simply "the way things are done" or "being effective". A political process which essentially requires influence peddling and corruption is just as effective at disenfranchising those without cold hard cash as a poll tax, literacy test, property requirement.
