i'll be doing some carpentry work on bainbridge island and am wondering if anyone knows of any bouldering in the area or if any locals have any interest in hooking up for whatever. i can be for hire, too.

you can get in without putting it into 4 just fine. there is plenty of ice, but conditions are different on every climb, every aspect - horrible to great, solid to shedding bombs. still worth the trip!

i've been thinking about that too. really, just a spread out alpine turn would probably make a little more sense. a little more independent knee motion, ankle flex.... i was originally a tele skier so anyway. i'd love to hear others' skiing techniques with mtn boots on. i really find the old Granite Gear Tele Cuffs to help out big time with climbing boots. didn't get the project finished before MT, so no progress to report. using short, skinny 'real' skis here but man, i am sooo not the same schusser with those things!

wow. i mean well... that's a little incomplete for 'cipherin, but i'm sure i can sift thru ttips to find the juice. maybe i'll discover my center of running running surface and know what it means. i don't really have the patience for technical ski bs anymore unless i'm 'in the moment'. yes, your points are working towards a possible . i got the 'things' on permanent 'can i borrow these?' at least five years ago from a woman who runs a demo-ing business (ski hill to ski hill with a bunch of companies' gear), and i helped out a few times. there were many of these, no one ever took 'em out when i was around; i don't think they're missed. someone should find a cheap source of these. PM if you want an idea to try. i bet there's a bunch doing nothing these days, and if anyone ever can tell me they're better than slowshoes before i find out for myself.... one toy i've laughed at and never been ashamed of is the Kneissel Bigfoots - toes on the tips and all. Sweet for skiing down hiking trails where you'd be hurting on anything resembling a 'real' ski. with both, i find a reverse tele stance to be stable in a nut shell.
