  1. Nick, this is one place where the rangers patrol in winter (collecting hut fees, setting up the winter route, etc). if they spot you with your collie, you'll get dinged somewhere in the neighbourhood of $75 for having him/her in the park.
  2. Do you have your own design? I think $69US is a bit dear for what you get.
  3. nice little discovery. thanks for passing it on!

    Favorite Pie?

for sure crisco pies are super yummlicious, but lard is still the best. are you joking about the hot water & sock on the rolling pin? we are polar opposites!

    Favorite Pie?

stilton & beets go on my romaine salads now, which they use to serve at the shaughnessy golf club. yum! but i haven't had port in a long time. it must be too uptown for the whalley off licence to carry. one pie not yet mentioned, that i like: deep dish salmon pie from the Hudson Bay deli. best pie crusts are made with _______ technique for ease of pasty making is _______ muffy, let's see which fellow can answer this first.

    Favorite Pie?

gary, what is this stilton ingredient? cheese? if so, that's an unusual combo. although i'm reviled for some daring cheese combos.
  8. a very close call! yesterday, clutch slave cylinder failed enroute to YVR. but that's not the scary part. i spent 3 days out of the last 5 bumping down logging roads
  9. gadzuks! i'm carrying around 2nd rate gear?
  10. i can't carry any more than i already have. oh the strains of being affluent.
  11. speaking of CDs, my 'lil bro got me Aerial by Kate Bush. i'll have to give it another listen, as it could not be appreciated too well above the din & racket of shit bouncing around in the truck as we were heading up logging roads all weekend.
  12. yep. sans leashes. and they look sensational in leopard, paisley, tiedyed and metalic. purchase them on east hastings, where the low track & high track sisters shop. grivel monster ain't got nuttin on us, honey.
  13. you have exquisite taste in gortex! as for the hi heels, mine are worn on my hands for WI.
  14. hot damn! your bacon suggestion gave me an idea. i can get me one of those fandangled gps thingamebobs. i may use it to the extent i use my sunto however. time/elev. p'haps it's just an excuse to hang a beaded cell phone charm from.
  15. my employer gave me $300 to spend at MEC! what frivolous thing should i get?
  16. i attempted the south twin sister. it was a bloody long effort, and we enjoyed as much of the ridge as we could before the big winds started to sandblast us. i was thrilled to see Cinderella for the first time.
  17. fern might do worse than shoot me. that girl can swing sharp pointy things with accuracy so errr, obseqiously, emphatically, NOT fern.
  18. this one should get the dumb-dumb trophy: climber x who will shoot me if i reveal her name, put Hot Shots in her bra. rapid blistering followed.
  19. that shot has some great composition you should get that framed! i especially like your discontented expression with regard to the paltry beer supply
  20. if the westender climbing, gender benders are onboard, fess up. it can get lonely here, admidst the milieu of our uptighty whitey friends.
  21. i may be the only transgendered mountaineering asian, for miles around
  22. Relieved to hear your chum is going to be okay Alpinfox, and also that help was close by & swift! Hoping he is on his feet & climbing mobile soon!
  23. i fumbled through my recovery alongside 2 other climbers who had the same complaints. i always pick good role models you know take advantage of what your physiotherapist will tell you on the matter. you might get sorted out a lot quicker than i did. any slow stretching involving the hams helped me - don't bounce those ham stretches. your PT can tell you how soon/how much you should be stretching & cutting back on the training. good luck! i've got some minor problems of my own right now, after a small wipe out on my dirt bike yesteday. onlookers cried with alarm "did you scratch the bike?"
  24. mine bothered me mostly on flat stretches. it arose from the fucked up gait of snowshoing; too many trips in one week; and never stretching. it took me over a year to recover fully. but it never took me out of the weekend game, and it helped when i switched to skis. gentle stretches daily! take it easy & don't let it become chronic!
