Tell me about it. Gonna me so long, I haven't even started yet. Wow. A rare archenemy muffism. I'm glad to have witnessed that.
  2. You can if you're Polish.
  3. "Because the — all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculate, for example, is on the table; whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those — changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be — or closer delivered to what has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the — like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate — the benefits will rise based upon inflation, as opposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those — if that growth is affected, it will help on the red." —George W. Bush, explaining his plan to save Social Security, Tampa, Fla., Feb. 4, 2005 With the upcoming State of the Union address, we can only wait with great anticipation to see what his "focus" will be for this year. He made such great strides with Social Security, I can only imagine.

    Unfortunate Names

Junior High art teacher: Art Dick No kidding... he was my 7th grade art teacher.
  5. So depending on where I take a whiz in the Paradise parking lot, you may have to contact a different division to write me a ticket?!! (Just joking - really... I am. I don't need the big NPS caravan of trucks pulling up in MY driveway.) But seriously, I guess that answers the question I've always had about those two cameras: why can't you get to them from the same area of the MORA website? Guess that would require cooperation and planning between divisions. Gasp!
  6. So instead of "dropping a coil" it would now become "dropping the rope bag?"
  7. Warning - while fenderfour's link IS work-safe, please be warned that if you're at work reading the article and someone walks behind you and sees pictures of a guy's underwear on your screen, you may put yourself in an awkward situation. Hypothetically. So I've heard.
  8. Let's put it into terms that you can understand. Bats who bust a nut with many other bats are well hung so they can be better at busting a nut than the other bats. Because so many resources were diverted for , they're a little lacking in the melon. The bats who bust a nut with only one other bat are gay. Gary,,I believe he was being facetious; hence, my "laying-off promiscuous bats for a couple hundred generations" jocose suggestion. I think Gary knew that. He was just proving to everyone that he can now use the term "bust a nut" in proper context. I, for one, say "well done". One more thing you can put on your resume when you graduate to the cruel cruel world.

    It's coming!

Those buds kinda look like ephedra.
  10. Kind of a distant view, and at the wrong time of year for you, but it might be worth something for you... You can get the bigger file here: http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/509/6055DSC01582.JPG Picture was taken early August 2003 from the little knob just north of Pyramid Peak (~6600'). -kurt
  11. Uhh... it's been snowin buttloads down here. Buttloads. I'm guessing that has something to do with it since the thing is probably encased in an ice tomb 6 inches thick. Don't worry... the mountain will still be here when you come down to guide the masses up the hill.
  12. Yup. You got it. If you're really interested in the information presented on a non-corporate website, check out who owns it by doing a whois. (Search on "whois" on google and take your pick.) Lotsa good stuff there, assuming they haven't registered the domain by proxy and are hiding the information. Doesn't hurt if you're dealing with an ecommerce site for the first time, either. At least you can see how long its been around, if its registered in the Bahamas, etc...
  13. Well damn - I thought if you found it on the internet, then it must be true. Seems to me this is a perfect opportunity for a lesson in "how to do research" for the kiddies.
  14. Kelly - thanks for the info! Guess that blows my theory. It's just been my experience in other things that when statistics go waaaaaay out of whack, that it's usually due to things other than the obvious. -kurt
  15. This actually had nothing to do with whether or not people wanted to know if you were circumcised. You were just plain breaking the cardinal rule: shorts over polypro. Always. If you're wearing polpro, you must be wearing shorts. Next thing you know, you'll be wanting to go without gaiters.
  16. I'll throw out another possible reason for the drop off - perhaps there was a change in the way the NPS recorded the statistic. Not sure how they recorded it before, or even now, but I'm guessing it has to do with permits issued. I haven't done much in the NCascades, but has there been a change in the way permits have been issued? Reduction in quotas? I'd lean more toward a change in the definition of the statistic than an actual change in the number of climbers. -kurt
  17. I'll be different... my vote will be from Father's Day weekend (late June) to mid-July. For the last 10 years or so, there seems to be a 4-5 day stretch of nice weather towards the end of June. (Good luck catching it!) But the problem with coming from back east is you don't have the time to wait out the ugly weather waiting for the break! If you DO... then I'd shoot for the earlier time frame. Less people and a more "pristine" mountain on the Emmons side, before the hordes descend. If you don't have a lot of free time to wait out the weather, go for early July. -kurt
  18. Dru - glad you said that and not me! Yowsa. However, I have to say that before I read your response, the same words formed in my head. And before someone jumps all over me... Sobo - congrats and welcome home! Glad you made it out of there in one piece, and hopefully without any hitchhikers in your upper or lower GI tract. I believe all the hubub revolves around folk's definition of "fad". Sobo and others - you're obviously taking fad to mean something trendy or disingenuous or done only to impress others. Granted, that's the normal definition, but fad could also be used to just note something that is only done for a certain amount of time. That what my personal definition was when the thought formed in my head. And that, is not demeaning to Sobo or any adopted kid. It just states what Dru also stated later - that China is where the majority of overseas adoptions are happening right now. And that will probably change, just as it has in the past. I have a young daughter of my own, have a couple friends who have adopted from China, have an aquantance that adopted from Central America, and have a friend who is in the adoption process. So yes... I totally understand that an adopted kid is no different than a biological child, and even MORE importantly... that child sees you as THEIR MOM AND DAD - period. But as Dru should probably have said - Americans adopting Chinese kids currently represent where it seems the majority of overseas adoptions are occuring . And as Seinfeld said "... NOT that there's anything wrong it!" Congrats, kurt

Ahhhhh... again.... e-x-p-e-c-t-a-t-i-o-n-s. (Damn - that was hard to type.) You again assume someone really gives a shit about your problems. (And no... I'm not just talking about this board.) Have you looked into just why that person couldn't get your grades done? We tend to get so self-absorbed in our own issues that we can't see that other people are just as effed up as us, and some even have bigger problems! It's the only trickle-down theory that works.

Heard this before, haven't you Gary? Hang in there, things will change. Eeek... sounds like I inadvertently hit a raw nerve there. Sorry. BUT... it's true.

Gary... The quicker you learn that living up to YOUR expectations are NOT the goals in life for other people, the better.

    Fluffing goats?

Cumberland. Suburb of Enumclaw. Need we say more?
  23. Think this is probably a troll, but if not... snowmobiles are only allowed on the White River Rd up to the White River Campground. Sunrise is past that. Might want to rethink that plan. Assuming that someone else up there sees snowmobile tracks heading towards Sunrise, and sees this thread, I'm thinking that you'll be receiving the "personal visit from a ranger treat" that only certain cc.com members are priviledged to experience. Just a thought. -kurt
