Ichiro is the greatest player in the history of the franchise and a Mariner for life. He should be getting all the props here. KGJ is in the death spiral phase of a "could've been"-type career. Yeah, it's a carefully managed corporate feel good ending to a not so pretty story. I'll be looking forward to Suzuki's 3000th rather than Mariners press releases designed to draw nostalgia tripping butts to seats. If Jr. had been productive (he was relatively healthy after all) and added real value (as opposed to marketing value) to this team, I'd be singing a different tune. You are always such a killjoy. There are some stories like that (glissading with crampons). Other accounts are a good reminder of what not to do - which is nice to have (drill, and hope you catch yourself before you do something dumb). The ones that I find depressing are the random incidents that you can do nothing to prevent against short of not going.

they didn't take enough drugs to have appealed to you, eh? they mostly seemed to play a lot of shuffle-board, which isn't interesting no matter how high you can get - i'm not quite certain what they were doing in the privacy of thier own homes though, truth be told - those florida folk do a ton of drugs, mostly the kind that make republicans rich though) - my uncle (who was from indiana, not exactly a little-columbia) hardly even drank, as i recall - he did like to play poker though... my uncle (and all those florida folks too, come to think of it) died long before i had the faintest awareness of the drug war and its many victims - satisfied? I've worked for pharma companies and can assure you that there are plenty of libs running those companies and making big $ - not to spoil your polar worldview, or anything just read the other thread... I've always thought those lookouts would be nasty - the thought of how many people have done the mile-high club there is just too nasty... There is a lot of great flat areas above the saddle between the two peaks which might have some a good spots to bivy, BTW.

Actually it says a hell of a lot. My gripes with Obama are about his overspending and political philosophy. If he showed a little more restraint he could do great things. As it is, he's headed for mediocrity.

That's just a way to change the debate. Instead of simply arguing the issue, smear your opponent, then demand your opponents talks about whether his "side" includes racists, and force the debate into disavowing these fringe elements. I could do the same for lefties too. Do I support racists who vote Republican? No. I wouldn't assume they - folks like the Ku Klux Klan - all vote Republican. I'm sure quite a few don't vote at all, or write in the name of their grand wizard (maybe Robert Byrd, for example ;-) ). You do know that there are more than 2 parties on ballots, after all, and typically these candidates are very much fringe.
