I agree.....too bad we have not had one of those in a while. Yeah, that's what happens when less than 50% of voters actually bother showing up and voting. What a bunch of little bitches. Actually it was 56.8% in 2008 - the highest in 40 years. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0781453.html

"Stay Frosty" is pretty cool

Not impressed with this one on first listen. :-/

Rubio. Who is Barry going to take? The stuttering old coot again?
-
Not working too well is it, kev? 9-10% unemployment despite massive spending by Barry. BTW, your guy, Ron Paul, would slash way more of the Federal gov't and the "jobs" you are claiming are created by said entity. Make up your mind - are you pro Ron Paul, or pro big-gov't. Geez. I am neither. I am just a troll...... At last, honesty! I pre-ordered that CD. If it sucks, I'll blame *you*. ;-)

Wrong. And I've said it before here many times. Bush spent too much - most (fiscal) conservatives agree and never liked it. That 3.5 billion can be spent better elsewhere, add up a few billion here and there across a few hundred ill-conceived, wasteful budget line items and you could save several hundred billions a year. That and stop proposing huge, new big government social engineering projects. And forget about a moon base or trips to Mars as well.

even *less* than Newt? for shame! Pretending that people who work for a living should compare their donations with that of plutocrats is beyond stupid. Time for you to get out of the sand box! All members of the Mormon church tithe - including the majority of them who "work for a living", many of whom make less than you. Many Evangelicals that you despise do likewise. And don't call me "stupid" - remember, behave!

Define "fair" share - quantitatively.

and your charitable contributions? Mitt or Newt level?
-
Be honest: Do you pay more than Mitt?

Obama could have done that, or canceled the project. He didn't. You are remembering that Obama took office in Jan 09, right? "With construction beginning in mid-2005, the original target completion date was September 2007." "In May 2008, US diplomats began moving into the embassy." "A new embassy opened in January 2009 in the Green Zone in Baghdad." So, he was supposed to cancel a near completed project? "The price tag for all of this will run about $3.5 billion a year. So far, Kennedy says, Congress has helped." A year.
-
Do you actually think Newt is an Evangelical?
-
Is that "all" he spent money on? Seems Obama was foisting his health care "reform" on the public (really the best timing?), continuing to spend 100's of billions on those wars, AND was not fighting the Republicans to eliminate the tax cuts of Bush or add new taxes. He continued to spend beyond our means and did it in an egregious manner.

Oooh, points for an inside joke that only a poster with history could make! Only if it occurs on the Inter-Glacier.

Given the amount of money they have to give to their leaders every time the leaders proclaim a new apocalypse, that's not surprising. The sheep get fleeced so the pigs can wear wool suits. http://life.nationalpost.com/2012/01/26/b-c-polygamist-tells-court-hes-paid-church-for-15-separate-apocalypses/ FLDS not LDS. Mitt is in the mainstream version. As for fleecing, left-wing non-church goers have their own apocalypses they peddle, no? You know like the "crisis" of global warming which will destroy the world if we don't pay hundreds of billions now and for ever...

Let go of the hate, Rob.

Well, I don't know how LDS spends its tithed collections, but assume at least a good portion of it goes towards some "good" whether direct and physical or intangible and emotional/spiritual. And of course there is overhead - LDS like all organizations of course has to pay salaries, and maintenance and upkeep of structures, utilities bills, etc. I do know a few members of this church and they appear to live modestly, and I judge that a lot more favorably than non-church goers that live relatively-more extravagantly. I would agree that there are churches out there that feed a small hierarchy with a pretty good lifestyle (good old Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker's abuses come to mind)

Would it ever even happen? Thing about "idea" guys who talk a lot... well often doesn't happen. Although Barack did manage to talk a lot and spend a ton.

Looking for thoughts on a parka purchase.

With the exception of my sleeping bag I have yet to take any down garment to Alaska. I've done five trips (not counting ice climbing trips in Valdez) to climb in different parts of Alaska since 2009 in either winter, spring, summer and fall. My choice of kit in Alaska is based on my experiences climbing in the lower 48 (OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, CA, CAN). Down garments potentially have a place in one's kit but that is for each person to figure out for themself hopefully before they tackle their bigger objective. What do you bring, John, and for what temps? I've only got two puffies myself - a ginormous-looking NF Nuptse and a light synthetic compressor. Not sure when I'd be in the market for a new coat, but should I keep getting out in Winter or headed up to Denali, I may.
