Actually he shot a correction officer after his shackles were removed. He was being given an MRI, wrested the weapon from the 62 yr. old man, and shot him point blank in the head. Fuck the neo-nazi If there is justice, his 300 lb, african-american cellmate will do just that. repeatedly I'd like to watch.

so let's list the things that AREN'T stated in the constitution... abortion??? gay marriage?? etc.... oh wait - it's open to interpretation, eh? Either you have not read the Constitution or else you did not understand it. There is no mention of our civil rights b/c the document outlines the limitations of our govt's powers--NOT our rights. Good point. Rights thought to be fundamental to the human nature, as intrinsic as life and reason itself, are rights that existed and continue to exist regardless of the actions of governments. In this regard, the Constitution does not create rights, yet it explicitly restricts the power of governments to trespass upon those essential human rights that have come to be called civil liberties. The Constitutional limitations on governmental power begins with our own and by extension reaches from there to all governments and all people. It is by the word of our Constitution that Americans have stood as a people whose self-evident and inalienable rights are not to be tread upon by any government, least of all their own. Wish I said that myself--very well put!

Tests like these are not sexist. Of course, if they used the word "shrewd" rather than the word "clever", then everyone would be talking about how much better women score on the IQ test then men did.

Sorry, I am not following you (I'm not sure you were responding to my post). I didn't say that any single branch can anything. Its the end of the day and my eyeballs are tired, so maybe I missed something obvious.

Good point.

I am a woman who has very, very little body hair. What little I do have is blonde and pretty much invisible. Therefore, I consider body hair a very masculine trait and therefore sexy. And I love music.

I understand that and agree with the yes. But, during discussions like these, folks seem to get the idea that the whole thing is about what you and I get to do--fun stuff like buy guns and get abortions. I think that all too often folks don't realize that that stuff is the afterthought--that the founders were primarily interested in independence from England and the Parliment. Am I boring you yet? Hell, I am reading "John Adams" right now and am all excited about it. People around me actually fall asleep when I pick up my book and say, "Did you know...."

I have, but then, I am a history buff so I read a lot of shit about our country and our gov't. I'm a real thrill at dinner parties.

Executive priviledge is not mentioned in the Constitution.

linky Thank you

The guidelines for impeachment are written out. Where are the guidelines to this "Presidential Priviledge" everyone talks about?
-
I thought we were talking about Bush, not Clinton. Is there any real difference? Clinton was impeached but refused to step down. We have the left wing saying X and they are right, and the right wing saying Y and they are right. But X and Y are direct contradictions. We live in a world of varying shades of grey when we want black and white. Yes, there is a difference. Impeachment is only the legal statement of charges, NOT the involuntary removal from office. Thus, Clinton did not do anything against Congress when not leaving office--that stage had not been reached. Bush is directly refusing an direct legal order from Congress. That is acting like you are above the law. Steven Segal would have a thing or two to say about that.

Thank goodness I failed the diet contest. Now there is enough of me to go around. PP: Did you get the PM?

In my mind, this is the heart of the issue: His House counterpart, Judiciary Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., said Bush's assertion of executive privilege was "unprecedented in its breadth and scope" and displayed "an appalling disregard for the right of the people to know what is going on in their government." This is not a party issue, but an issue that affects every individual. I think that most of us believe in the old "Lead by example" addage. And for our leader to set this example is an affront to all of us.

right there with you. Worse yet, my hair was really the only thing I considered pretty on me. What a dummy I am.

Um, yeah, if the job is to repaint my deck. Jebus that thing is scary. Obviously, you will need to show us how it works before we can accurately assess it though.
