At ropeup, Rolf and I (yeah, I'm name dropping. I'M A FRIEND OF ROLF) were talking about this book I'm reading..Guns, Germs, and Steel. The author mentions that all it would take for the human species to propagate to a new island or continent and fill it with and new civilization was for a pregnant woman with a baby boy child in her belly to to wash ashore. The problem I have with this theory is what about genetics problems? They talk about these grey wolf species dying off because of inbreeding in the Northern US Rockies...why didn't these human have that problem? Was the gene pool not yet polluted badly? Where is the genetic critical mass? If you believe in evolution, what impact does inbeeding have on the evolution of the human species?

  10. Well, I hardly took any photos, and I didn't climb at all...so here is all I have to share:
  11. That was great time! The weather was F'ing PERFECT. Thanks to Doug Klewin and his sons for showing slides. Also thanks to Jim Nelson, Matt Perkins, Blake Herrington and Carl Johnson (thats your last name ,right Carl?) for showing as well. Big thanks to Ketch for bringing up the AV gear, and Blake and Kurt Hicks for the computers. Thanks to everyone who showed up and helped drain the kegs! We did the job, I'm just drinking the dregs of the pint of the Hefe that was left over. Also thanks to those that brought firewood and cooking stuff. And "dragon", that can of corn was a hit. I'll bring more food next year, those brats went quick! Thanks to all those that fetched a beer for the cripple. Lets see some pictures! Either from climbing or the party, whatever. Thanks to my buddy Rat for coming to Ropeup and being my friend 4 ever. I'm going to come visit you soon.
  12. A couple of KILLER fall days up there. Perfect blue skies. Dooderinos and Dooderettes drained both the kegs. A good time was had by all, etc.

  14. OK, headed up finally. I have a bunch of horsecock and buns, along with mustard and ketchup. I mean a LOT. And the beer is coming up right now too. Bring firewood and a grill or two so we can cook up all these dawgs.
  15. YOU were kinda boring last year. The ropeup was fine...it was just a bit damp.
  16. ***SOLD*** Here is a pic for those interested: I'm not including the androids i have with them.
  17. I know someone is bringing a grill, but can anyone bring one or two more? That way we have plenty of grill space to cook up on Saturday night.

  19. I understand people who don't want to come up: i hate free beer i hate free gear i hate free campsite at eightmile i hate free food i hate good weather i hate climbing in the Icicle etc. basically a recipe for an unhappy life. but its yours to live.
  20. There really isn't any excuses. You can always quit your gig Dechristo. Are they really paying you enough? No, I didn't think so. So I'm locking this thread so no one can whine and bitch. Only positive thoughts are allowed by the thought police.
  21. I have both a WM and a FF bag. They are both very nice bags, you can't go wrong with either. If in Seattle you can try out a WM bag at Pro Mountain Sports. And of course FF is right in downtown Seattle. Go get in them and check out the fit before buying.
  22. OMFGZ TWO KEGS W/TAPS AND RAFFLE BOOTY JUST DELIVERED TO ME BY ALPINFOX. THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING!! can you feel it
  23. I might be talked out of my BD Cobras (two hammers, but I have an adze attachment to throw in too). They have the leashless mod on them (removable), and are in great shape. ***SOLD***
  24. Dang...i forgot...can someone bring a laptop computer for the slide show? Blake is bringing one, so we may not need to use it, but I want to have one available as a back up. There will be power up there, so no worries if the battery doesn't last long.
  25. So again, I'm headed up today to Ropeup (Group camp at eight mile), leaving between 2-3. Unfortunately it doesn't look like we're have room in our vehicle (a two passenger truck). I know lots of people are headed up, so just post here if you need a ride! If you get there before I do, if the campground host asks, let them I know I'm bringing a check up to pay for the camping fee. I'm heading up with a keg of hefe and a keg of IPA. Bring a cup! We can start in on it tonight. Slide show starts at 7pm Saturday night Remember I'm going to stop by Costco and buy some sausages and buns and other fixing for eating on Saturday night, so we'll feed ya that night. I probably am not going to have budget for vegetarian stuff, so bring something if that is your thing. If you can (not required) bring something to share Saturday night! You need to provide your own food for the rest of the time. Gear Give Away We're going to have a gear raffle. You just need to show up and put your name on a ticket (tickets are free). This will be Saturday night during the slideshow. We'll give away a pack or two and some other stuff. REMEMBER: Bring some firewood for the campfire! ooooooooooooOOOOOOOO:snugtop: The weather just keeps getting better and better. Looks like people will actually be able to get some climbing done (unlike some previous drizzely Ropeups). Looking forward to hearing about some epics on Outerspace Saturday night! http://www.weather.com/weather/weekend/USWA0227?from=36hr_topnav_undeclared
