Yeah, they're doing a movie about K2. It's in the newest Climbing mag..

By the way, I ended up boiling water and setting the cams in for a bit, then used compressed air to dry, and get the hard to reach areas. Went out and bought the Metolius kit. Worked like a charm . Thanks for all the input!! --Stretch

Someone told me that there's a hostel in Yosemite. Is this in the park, or is there one near by? Leaving on the 21st, so any info soon would be greatly appreciated. Stretch

So a dry lube would probably be a better choice in terms of keeping crud out? Not all out, but better than a liquid lube? How about after lubing, spraying the cam with air to get rid of all the drips?

Is there such a thing? If so, what should I use? Would powdered graphite work? How about a light instrument oil, like Starret oil?

I was doing some reading on MPB. Was checking out a guide book, and it said that place was a good starting point. In my rack, I have pretty much one of everything, cams, nuts. I have some hexes also, but not a full set. Should I double up on everything, or do you think I can get away with the set I have? Also, I am ok at building multi-dir anchors. Been reading Climbing Anchors, and it shows some good points. I know I need the experience of building them more frequently. Do I need to build each anchor with pro or are there belay stations ( with bolts) throughout the area of climbs?

My cousin got me a plane ticket to go to California with her. I mentioned that we should head down to Yosemite for a couple of days and check it out. Here is the problem: I can lead sport routes up to 5.10 comfortably, and some 5.11 struggle. I havent done much trad climbing, or crack climbing, which from what I can tell, is the main style down there. I do have a rack but dont know if it will be enough. Does anyone know of any sport climbs? Or better yet, any easy trad to get started out on while Im there?

The cave at Oasis is way cool. When we went, it was about 95 outside, and about 70 in the cave. Watch out for bats, guano, and the infamous pack rat!

Spent last week at Windy Point. Hiked across the street up to some bat caves, and next thing you know, bolts everywhere. I was talking to a guy that works at Backpackers Supply, and he said Yoder is compiling a book of the whole area. I'm guessing that includes all of the above areas at Tieton...

I'm a machinist in auburn and I've recently reversed engineered a pair of the Grivel Semi autos. Made them out of mild steel and then had them heat treated. Way tougher than the store bought ones! Tips stay sharper, longer too. I was thinking of buying a sheet of steel, then sending it out to a laser jet shop down the road. I interested..... I can make just about any kind too...

Go to www.skicrystal.com and get the trail map. It's a drawn map, but has decent depth, given the map... might help you out --Stretch

I've heard of the Wilkeson climbing, but haven't had a chance to make it up there yet. Mind if I tag along one of these days?? --Stretch

I also have had good results using radios. One change I made, however, is I spent the few xtra bucks and bought the ear piece/mic setup. Switching the radio to voice activation makes the whole setup hands free. Just talk or listen. --Stretch
