  1. Robbob: Bullshit! Puget: I concur. Looks like Shrubby's got a compression!
  2. I've never thought of it as "feminizing" GWB, more like "de-masculinizing."
  3. Sorry, did not mean to muddy the issue with the lawsuit question. That would only be a valid question if the deceased were a client of the guide service.
  4. Yes, I do remember Jessica Lynch. I also remember a national election that got so fucked up that the Supreme Court decided it 5-4. I remember when we violated the Geneva Conventions by invading a country that posed no threat to us. I remember "embedded journalists". I remember there being an ever-changing objective as to why we invaded. I remember the company that the Vice President used to run getting the contracts to rebuild, without there being a bid process. I remember "free speech zones" and the Patriot Act. What about people being held without access to due process in Cuba? There is reason to doubt the veracity of news generated by the current administration. if that makes me a crackpot, then so be it.
  5. We defintitely don't have all of the facts on what happened yesterday. Finding the guy cowering in some random hole just doesn't make a ton of sense.
  6. Another aspect of this: Does the family of the victim have the right to sue the guiding service for leading the victuim into a dangerous situation? I ask this because I just heard of someone suing a raft guiding service for something similar. I had pretty mixed feelings about that one.

    chatter?

    Late Sunday night chatter time!
  8. Thanks for that post MtnGuide. We are on a slippery slope these days with regard to tolerance of ideas other than the ones we want to hear. It started all the way at the top with the Patriot Act, and it trickles down to an individual level with people getting all over my shit for being skeptical about something that is as made-for-tv as SH's alleged capture. You may not agree with my point of view, but here in the good old U S of A, I have every right to it. Dissent IS patriotic. PS. Calm the fuck down, boys. My skepticism is not personal.
  9. Oh, calm down, you rabid bunch of spray dogs. All of the information regarding the capture of SH has thus far come from one source, the US gummint. There's nothing wack job about being a little skeptical until all the facts are in. And Klenke's right. I for one have never supported the invasion and occupation of Iraq by the USA. Even if we did capture SH today, it doesn't make the whole thing okay with me.
  10. Now is not the time to be blindly accepting everything presented to you by the US gov't and the US media at face value. Finding the guy disoriented, disheveled, and docile seems pretty surprising to me. His sons fought to the death, and I'd have expected him to do the same, or to kill himself. It's too convenient in terms of our propaganda war for the guy to somehow turn up looking like a "rat in a hole" as one military guy put it today. You guys are entitled to take it at face value though, just as I'm entitled to keep asking questions.
  11. I suppose you're going to say that skepticism is unpatriotic now. Oh wait, never mind.
  12. There is a strangely "Wag the Dog" element to this story. I suspect that we are not getting the whole story here. It's a little too perfect that the US military would find this guy hiding out in a hole, looking like a bum, and not putting up a fight. I'm sure I'm going to get flamed to pieces for my remarks, but something just is not right.
  13. roadless: keep at it Middle Fork: either keep the road open, or buy out the inholders and annex the arm that is the Mfk road into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Storm Damage: The MBSNF and neighboring NFs need a bunch of emergency funding so that they can get started on repairing the massive sorm damage from last month.
  14. Ski couple days a week, plastic couple days a week. Definitely not enough. Need game plan to get core strength back so I can ski harder and lift a little more at work. Also time to start doing those squats again so maybe I can do more than one hop turn per day. conditioning stuff is not fun (eg crunches and associated), anyone found any halfway fun things to do to regain it? I think a strong core is the main building block to a strong and fit body. Help!

    Muffy Misconception

Aww, Muffy, I wouldn't worry about it. At least the guy didn't throw scalding hot soup in your face or anything.
  21. So let me see if I can get this straight: Go to any shell on a Thurday, get 8 gals or more of gas, and get a thing for 2 for one on any Thursday for Stevens? Is that the deal?
  22. No, you're right. It's good to keep things clean, your clothes, your rope, etc, because dirt's abrasive, and it wears things out. That's why you're not supposed to drag your rope thru the dirt.
  23. John Ramuta. You take the slips to Ramuta's shoe repair on 6th and Stewart, and give them to the nice lady behind the counter. That's his mom. She'll send them out to John and he'll fix them up good. Bring your checkbook or cash, as he is not working directly for the family shop.
  24. Look, it's not about individual women, or who is cool and who is not cool. All I'm telling you is that the place is not generally inviting to women. You wonder why there are not more, there is your answer.
