If they weren't going to cover you for denying you were climbing, do you think they were going to cover you if you told them, before hand, that you were? I doubt it. I've seen too many insurance policies where any sport involving ropes or climbing is excluded.

Having the insurance companies know you climb will only occur if a) you tell them (dummy!) or b) they've been data mining your purchases (boo!) and put 2 and 2 together or c) we get those lovely new national ID cards that tell everything about you but keep us 'safe' from terrorists (yay for freedom!). Once you become a registered climber, you will likely only be allowed to climb in designated 'safe' climbing areas, under supervision. If you cannot climb harder than 5.9 trad, you will have to go before an insurance industry certified board and take classes if you want to try a 5.10. Being a beginning climber will make your rates go up because you're a bumbly. Climbing harder will make your rates go up because you are assuming more risk. Your rates will not go down because you are 'healthier' (since, because of your shopping records, we know you have a penchant for cigs, booze, cheap hamburgers, and unprotected sex with goats). Most imporantly, your rates will not go down because you need to be subsidizing our profits and everyone else on the system who has something worse than you do.

You're not going to get one. It's the current theme amongst the conservative set to demand solutions to complex problems when confronted with those who doubt the 'solutions' provided by the current admin. The point being that if you fail to provide one, obviously the solution of the current admin must be either the best of all possible solutions (apologies to Voltaire) or at least good enough until you come up with something better. They aren't prepared if you beat them to the punch or the answer is: "I like the job the president is doing".

Which is it Jay? On the one hand, you bemoan people for having sensitivity to other people's religions. On the other, you seem to think we should be sensitive to your (putative?) feelings about Christianity and Christian leaders? If you think people should be sensitive to how Christianity is portrayed, then you shouldn't be upset by how other people think we should approach the issue. If not, are you just using Christianity for your own purposes in order to advance your point? That seems pretty base. Which is it?

I think we should make fun of all religions and political parties equally without fear of being labelled a blasphemer or unpatriotic and threatened with violence, investigation, government harassment, or deportation. Seems only fair since they tend to make fools out of most people anyway.

Anybody done this route? Have done up to New Zealand Grade 3+ and have this as a goal for next year probably if I can find a partner that I can train with locally. Interested in any beta/advice.
