What: Smiff Rox cc.com Summit 2003 When: October 3 - 5, 2003 Where: Skullhollow/Grasslands CG and Smiff Rock State Park Yes friends, the rumors are true. After much proding from our dear friend in MN.... Carolyn, us orygun folks are going to have ourselves a little party. Mainly cuz we are white trash, and the meth is better down here, or maybe we are sick and enjoy holds popping out at random times, maybe the beer is better down here, it just don't matter we gonna have a good time. The weekend will involve a few basic things, climbing and drinking, perhaps some sessioning will be thrown in for good measure. If you are plab, you can come, if you are unsure of your plab status, and are female, send me some pictures and i'll let you know. Saturday night, we'll have a bbq out at the g'lands. I'll bring out my grill, and cc.com will supply some costco style bbq supplies, first come, first chubbed. Sunday AM, I am going to see if the Smith Rock park rangers have a service project that folks could help with, folks that want to give back a little bit and aren't too hung over... more details on that to follow. I'm going to sponsor 1 keg myself, trying to secure some fine brew from the NE corner of the state, but if not, a Obsidian Stout will be served. So mark yer calendars, the weather should be perfect, and the people will be plab... head south friends and come join the magic! NOTE: All cc'ers are invited, even if you are from lesser states like WA, or perhaps Idaho, or maybe even Minnesotta. Co-Sponsored by: Amazing Co. and G.A.P.E.R. Org. (Gumnuts Against Proliferatoin of Erectile-Sybian Rimjobs)

sick terrain on bachy is only had by those who hold the sacred soul pole of plab, or you can duct tape a 3' HC to your helmet, and the terrain will appear. its kinda like the wardrobe to narnia

How often are more remote peaks of Olympics visite
gapertimmy replied to johndavidjr's topic in Olympic Peninsula
i just got back from a 4 day jaunt up skokomish into the duck, into the enchanted, into the freaking horse fly haven. staircase wasn't that much fun, i don't know if i'll hike that section of trail again, but the solitude, the scenery just can't be beat. i was going to ask if many folks get in for ski tours, i'm guessing there are still quite a few FD's to be had back there. -
bachy roxxorz yer dome, we gotz mad terrain and sick hitz

if anybody doesn't have anything to do, i'm thinking of putting up the first ascent using only hc as passive protection on the toof on sunday, if interested PM.

i took distel to horse cave, which is totally chalked up, but he didn't seem to impressed. skeleton is pretty trashed, but it has a nice large mouth that lets in alot of light, and i imagine is what made it a popular climbing spot as well as the natural escape from the heat. personally, i think there are some more scenic areas to wank around at like this spot here: http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/upload/166536-bulder.jpg which shouldn't be chalked up either, or up the bridge creek drainage outside of shevlin park (which has some bolted sport lines that are way to hard for this thrutcher). i can get you some gps waypoints for the latter i have em around here somewhere.

one note on gecko's, the power button can easily be turned on accidnetally in the pack, otherwise, these little suckers are dope, light, and have almost all the functions of a full sized garmin sans the gay maps

yeay baby, called that one! i'm not sure where the tyrolean is near mt bachelor village though. right now the river trail area near the village and supposidely said boulder is closed due to the southern bridge that is being constructed right there. was just down at the lava tubes this am. indeed climbing in the caves is frowned upon, and as bunglehead stated, this is so folks can have better access for bon fires and spray painting 666 down the tube. nevertheless, they are fun to explore, 3 great tubes right on the south side of china hat road, but my favorite is a bit of a drive from bend, outside of ft. rock called derrick cave. it was once the site of a nuclear fall out shelter for all of central oregon, complete with a cache of food/water and sealed off with an iron door. nasa did some expirements as well in this lava tube where they lit a bunch of railroad tracks on fire and attempted to see if they could sense/see the heat from sattelites, pretty neat o. anyhow, tons of boulders 'round here, maybe i should pick up the past time. if not, i'm always happy to show folks around.

Sahale Glacier a good girlfriend route?
gapertimmy replied to ryland_moore's topic in North Cascades
one time i had 3 girlfriends at once, I took one of them up this route while the other ones were at home, i say go for it, bring the rope just in case she wants to rap off -
the north facing chutes on paulina are some of the steepest shots in most of OR, folks ski them frequently and has an easy snomo aidied approach. have i skied them? nope, too steep for my puss ass as of yet, but they look wicked!

Many of us here, and hundreds of others around the world love Yosemite. No matter what your pastime is: gaping from your car, or doing a big wall, this place has it all... all set to one of the most beautiful backdrops know to man. Like others, yosemite is very special to me. It had only been about 10 months since i'd last been, but I couldn't wait to get back. For me, Yosemite is a place where I grew up, a place where I became the gaper that I am today. In the brief 3 months I spent wandering her backcountry about 4 years ago, I learned so much about the mountains, about life, about my soul, that it will always be so very magical to me... To sum it up, I saw a quote when i was down there on that first trip, about how one takes so much away from Yosemite, so many memories, so much joy, but because of that, you leave a piece of yourself behind in its place. It was time once again to go visit that "piece" of me that I left in the sierra wilderness a few years ago. Alot has changed since that initial trip to Yosemite, marraige, 2 kids (big and furry, yet still kids), new jobs, new spray infested web sites, new friends, yet the love for the place in the sierra has held constant. The drive down 395 from Bend is a long one, but slowly as the mountains get bigger, my soul jumps, the heart skips a few beats because I get to go back to the place i love so dearly. Once again, old Yosemite served up some great memories, my first climbs in the park, hanging with good friends new and old, and getting to share more magical moments with my alpine buddy becky. early morning at dana meadows thrutching up an easy climb (i really need to climb more) becky hiking out of tuolumne canyon though the rain came down daily, and the skeeters chubbed freely, a good time was had by all. granite, fresh yosemite-scented air, stars and rain, it was good to be back. already planning my next drive down the 395, here's to yosemite quick note: i'm really not sure my poor attempt at a tr can sum up how awesome this place is but to me, yosemite encompases all of that i love about the mountains, and it is always refreshing to go back and remember that initial discovery, the first kiss so to speak of the alpine. so this tr was my attempt to get you all to remember what first got you into the sport you love, weather it be scaling small rocks, big rocks, or slogging up volcanos, just remember that intial excitement, remember why you get out there rain or shine, escape the spray for a second and remember. just thought we could all use a little positive stoke amongst the rope up discussions

i have a wedding to attend on saturday, otherwise i'd love to join boy boulder wonder and his rope gun mistress, sunday is open though

yep, and we gotz erik on our team with the snaffle suit. index, never been, is it like smith?

i haven't seen this particular rock, though i don't boulder so i don't go looking for rocks like it. to me, the foilage looks and rock look similar to that near the meadow camp area, but more north, towards bend. there are all sorts of little basalt crags like that all over the place in central oregon, you just have to be looking for them. since i don't sit start, i really don't know what makes a good boulder problem.. maybe next time distel is in town i'll show him some more stuff and he can setup some sick projects... i'll take pictures and get rich! besides that, the best bit of knowledge said on this thread was by sphinx. freshiez is the dust of life, without it, all things would be so suck.
