  1. I know a few here on the site have some of those sporty super light single wall tents, i'm sure they will chime in. If you are looking for a light weight shelter, i think a trip to Pro Mountain Sports would be well worth your time, Jim could give you the scoop on all the products out there so you can make an informed purchase.
  2. fwiw, all gear purchased for mt bachelor uniforms is all mountain hardware, pants, shells etc. i bought a pair of hardware pants about 3 years ago and have been pleased with them. i'm currently using my fancy bachy parka which is very similar to the one you are looking at. It uses the conduit fabric, not goretex, but has kept me very dry and cozy on all the shitty rainy days we have had this year. so far i've been pleased with the hardware gear i have bought/used, but i can't help but see some eerie similarities between mh and tnf. perhaps the reason bachelor is purchasing all mtn hardware gear is that the ceo of our parent company is a majority holder of mountain hardware, hmmmmmmm. but honestly, if you can find a good deal (i bought my wife the parka you are looking at on rei-outlet) i think you will be pleased.
  3. Nice. Can you upload your picture to the photogallery for all to see?

  9. what i want to know is when the made for tv after school special movie "TERROR ON BIG 4" is coming out, and who is going to have cameos?
  10. cross posted in the freshiezone: You may or may not have noticed some new links in the sidebar. I have added in a automated poll of the NWAC forecasts on a daily basis. If you click these links you will see the latest NWAC forecasts, but in a much more eye-pleasing format, IMHO Enjoy and be safe out there.

  12. what about battery life on the rhino compared to a normal eTrex unit? I'm all for consolidating 2 pieces of gear that I often have to take on trips for SAR, but if it means carrying even more AA batteries then why? i still think the route to go is to get a cheap ham radio, program in your repeaters, and FRS channels.... that is a usefull backcountry communication tool
  13. interesting chuck, maybe i'll do this and see how the response is.... that way when peeps reply to a tr and say, "fucking sweet" or "nice tr" they can click the link as well. hmmmmm interesting
  14. got the photo gallery working btw. good points being brought up. I added on the content managemetn part of the site (mambo, the one that got hacked) in hopes of pulling out the great tr's and beta, and archiving them to that portion of the site. there is a robust search engine attached to it (that searches the bbs as well), and the tr's can be linked back to the original thread. moderators, and authors have the option of "publishing" a tr or quality beta to this archive of sorts by clicking on that little folder button underneath a post. so far the response to this hasn't been excellent, but i'm hoping others will begin to publish certain tr's the post on their own. if not, i will continue to grab the ones i think are tasy and push them out there. i think the threaded discussion, even with the spray, is what sets this site aside from other tr sites, but I agree that it would be nice to pull them aside and make them easier to find at times. keep the suggestions coming, and why haven't people used the mambo thing much?
  15. I'm working on my autobiography right now... "My Life as a Teenage Pornstar" and hope to publish it. (ha ), actually it is going to be a outdoor type book, puppy porn, anyhow does anyone out there have any experience publishing books? I'm hoping to do it grassroots and distribute it locally here in Bend, so i don't think working with a publisher would be necessary. If anyone has done this before please give me a PM with any advice, thanks! Tim
  16. now if i could only fix the image gallery.
  17. bess be havin clean panties, i think a thong would look much better
  18. This is doable, we could have a "mute" user feature, but, i don't think it would help with page load times at all. Like it was said above, a post is usually only text, unless an image has been embeded then some time would be saved but that isn't very frequent. if image loading is taking time (graemlins and other nonsense) simply disable photos in your web browser perferences. muting users would take some time to develop and it makes me wonder if it is worth my time to make such a feature.... their post would still be there, the text just wouldn't display so there would still be a bunch of blank posts on a thread. the truth of the matter is, no matter how hard we try, how much time we spend, we will never make this site what everyone wants it to be. sorry if the spray is much to handle at times but its what makes this site, and the world go around. take me tips up top to reduce page load times, and learn to skim.
  19. i ended up staying local and did a nice long hike with the mutts... covert access to the "closed" lava tubes. i love the tubes, but the ones close to my house have too much spay paint and it really bums me out.
  20. Jeesh, trolling is just way to easy these days
  21. possibly not openly on the boards, but in your PM's you've been real harsh... ooops, did i just write that
  22. peeps be getting very anal down here in central oregon about dogs. for years it was a real dog town, but then bastards moved down from seattle and messed it all up... ohh, wait, errr uhhh anyhow, if your dog is caught off leash in bend proper you get $160 dog at large ticket or some madness like that. i now drive out to BFE BLM land to let the dogs roam and harvest human feces. I never take my dogs to smiffy, tho a great place to take them is right behind smith, grey butte, access via the skull hollow/grasslands road.
