True, I now ski with old T3s and like the power and tourability as well as their dryness. However, I still have my Snofield II leather boots and love them for blue groomers, corn snow and fast tours where I am not carrying a heavy pack. Iain, if you go plastic, go low cut, the best of all worlds. Keep the extremes tho.

Yea, the snow levels are staying pretty low thru the week (3000f-4500f), avy rating for the weekend is considerable changing to moderate below 7000f FWTIW, not alot of precip coming our way, sunny wednesday and thursday. Are you shy of snow or rain? If rain then you could hedge your bets and go for Silver Star of hwy 20 East of Washington Pass, you'll have to approach from that side because the pass may or may not be open. Fleetwood Mac opened, Bare Trees was the current album and the warbly voiced gauze covered one was not in the band. Other early shows range from the embarrassing (Gordon Lightfoot, too drunk to remember the words to anything) to the ludicrous (Uriah Heep, but the folks next to us shared some stupifying weed). Holy phuk! The best boots I have ever owned. I was just crack climbing and bouldering in them this weekend. They are light (2lbs, 6oz), totally waterproof, climb well, hike great with a pack on and I can't wait to try them with some crampons. No blister problems but I wear thick wool socks and if on a long trip poly pro liners.
