  2. Ah, The Minx has been misinformed as to the residential neighborhood The Fox chooses to call home. The Fox would not like to live in Freemont. Not in a box. Not with socks. I would not live there said The Fox. i had no idea... i was just making wild unsubstantiated, completely unsupported statements as though they were fact.
  3. that's why you live in freemont isn't it?
  4. dru--that's exactly what i mean. we wouldn't want folks to have any sense of identity...especially not black culture. and sheesh, i'd probably a much better wife if i got a good beating from time to time....lord knows i've been hunted for being a witch more than once. maybe things are headed in the right direction.
  5. "...is the teaching of traditional middle-class values, such as morals, manners, and responsibility, and strict rules requiring students to dress neatly, arrive on time, pay attention, be respectful, shun fighting and foul language, and finish their homework. i don't know how folks think these are middle class values. what self respecting suburban child doesn't swear, flock to a fight and dress like a slob. what they're really saying is they're trying to implement a return to 1950s values.
  6. Do those townhomes come standard with middle class values, or is some assembly required? some assembly is required...you only get those when you do your third refinance

    Infinite bliss

Kevbone--i'm pretty sure that several people here have climbed it. it has a lot of controversial history as i'm sure you know if you've done a search for the route. i have to agree with the folks here that there is some excellent beta available online. a good guess for who leland is would be the guy that put up the route. makes sense eh? hope you enjoy the climb. i'm sure you can find very detailed info if you keep looking.

  16. sorry to hear of your troubles...yech!! it seems that everyone is so aware of giardia but it is only responsible for 15-25% of intestinal parasites aquired in the BC. Campy is responsible for a much larger proportion. guess it is a good idea to filter.
  17. CBS- what length of rope were you using? We took 2 60 meters when we were there recently. While we definitely needed both ropes to get down we had plenty of rope left to make the chains on that pitch. Way more than one meter. My partners particularly enjoyed the .10d next to it. It was deemed a fun lead with a good pucker factor. You should give that one a try next time you're there. It was a little to tricky for a wuss like me to enjoy.
  18. it's a real shame...fringe would really ad something to your outfit.
  19. yes wouldn't it be nice if the whole world could be evaluated in simplistic black and white terms. my mother is a flaming republican but i still love her. most of my co-workers are more liberal than i am and i like several of them. i've even got one or two friends that voted for bush....twice. heck when i was younger, i even voted republican a few times. as for religion...i take a harder line and have less tolerance for that than i do for a difference in politics. none the less, i've never refused to share a beer with someone just b/c they went to church.
  20. well i didn't know his banana hammock had fringe! that changes everything
  21. Yes JayB, it's true. Almost every single one of my friends is a liberal, "conservative"-hating, tree-hugging, atheist, anti-government, conspiracy theorist. It's true I'm not open minded or receptive about the christian fundamentalists' religious/political agenda. I oppose it vehemently and consider anyone who espouses it to be my enemy. I do however hold Voltaire's statement, "I may disagree with your opinion but will fight to the death for your right to express it" as a personal credo. Then again, in the words of The Reverend Samuel L. Jackson, "YES THEY DESERVE TO DIE, AND I HOPE THEY BURN IN HELL!!!" hmmm...i think i want to be alpinfox's friend. ...as long as he doesn't wear a banana hammock around me.
  22. do you think that i could get through security with a snake in my carry on??

  24. Judge nixes warrantless surveillance By SARAH KARUSH, Associated Press Writer 50 minutes ago DETROIT - A federal judge ruled Thursday that the government's warrantless wiretapping program is unconstitutional and ordered an immediate halt to it. ADVERTISEMENT U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor in Detroit became the first judge to strike down the National Security Agency's program, which she says violates the rights to free speech and privacy as well as the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution. "Plaintiffs have prevailed, and the public interest is clear, in this matter. It is the upholding of our Constitution," Taylor wrote in her 43-page opinion. The American Civil Liberties Union filed the lawsuit on behalf of journalists, scholars and lawyers who say the program has made it difficult for them to do their jobs. They believe many of their overseas contacts are likely targets of the program, which involves secretly listening to conversations between people in the U.S. and people in other countries. The government argued that the program is well within the president's authority, but said proving that would require revealing state secrets. The ACLU said the state-secrets argument was irrelevant because the Bush administration had already publicly revealed enough information about the program for Taylor to rule on the case. "By holding that even the president is not above the law, the court has done its duty," said Ann Beeson, the ACLU's associate legal director and the lead attorney for the plaintiffs. The NSA had no immediate comment on the ruling. Taylor dismissed a separate claim by the ACLU over data-mining of phone records by the NSA. She said not enough had been publicly revealed about that program to support the claim and further litigation could jeopardize state secrets. Beeson predicted the government would appeal the ruling and request that the order to halt the program be postponed while the case makes its way through the system. She said the ACLU had not yet decided whether it would oppose such a postponement. warrantless wire tapping
