Every time it's the same ritual. Dog runs up to me at a full gallop. I'm thinking "Is he going to bite?" I stop in my tracks. The dog either runs past me or stops and stiffs my crotch. Sure, a lot of people dig caves. It is a skill that can save your life. There are times up there when the wind blows so hard that no tent can stand. I've heard of climbers holed up in snow caves for days up there.

I enjoyed climbing with Distel32 at Vantage. Distel, being the much better climber, put up a couple of 10b sport routes on lead for me to top rope. They were my first 10b's. I had to hang a couple of times, but I did reach the anchors. It was fun and I feel that my climbing is improving. I feel great.

So what was the resolution to this issue of rap anchors at Snow Creek wall? Did DDD get chopped? What was the idea that came to Cavey as he was driving back from Index?

Bronco, that's a good one. Plastics are nice for Rainier, if you have them. I got mine for $50 at the REI garage sale. They were retired from the rental program. They are especially great in winter. My toes are always toasty.
