Didn't you work on City Park a few years back? _______________________________________________________________ I remember watching, with Joseph, some n00b Euro chick on the first pitch of SE corner. It was late in the day and we'd just got off something I think. She had probably dipped massive white 5 or 6 times as she worked out the first 3-4 moves...off the ground. JH didn't say a word to her, just let her climb in peace. Later, after she had finally made it up over the 5.5 crux much higher, and gotten stuck on the next crux pitch on the 5.7: when the yelling back and forth started between the leader who couldn't hear and the climber who couldn't make the moves, even with extra chalk, JH soloed over from snag ledge and pointed out the holds and moves. Such a gentleman. BTW, great catch Saturday Joseph, if I didn't say so earlier, thanks for both catching me, and not saying anything to me about chalk (course I have an eco ball and it's pretty minimal, but I was following a chalk trail).

LOL. Being a space geek, that's one of my fave books, and even the movie is one of my faves, having seen it dozens of times. I found it amusing when this story broke, and the CNN headline said something like "Astronauts Don't Show the Right Stuff". Made me chuckle, because actually, drinking extensively prior to flight (and at lots of other times), is EXACTLY in keeping with the tradition of The Right Stuff... Exactly! For me, the book is on the top 100 best of all time. The movie, to me, did not make that exact point Wolf was aiming at, in fact, it seems to show the reverse. To anyone who likes to read, defiantly read the right stuff before you open the last Harry Potter book: my opinion anyway.

Tim - it was wet only @ Vancouver-Camas, I was having second thoughts....but it stayed dry. I think I might be too sore today but I suspect if you just head out to Beacon (or Ozone for that matter) , you'll find a belayer.

I just tried out my new Dmm V-Twin belay device that I got at Climb Max today. What separates this from all other atc style devices is that it is made out of Stainless steel. If you are into topropeing and don't want to be spending time washing your rope to get the black alum. oxide off of it - this and steel biners on top are the solution. (or spend the money and get a Cinch). I rapped off of Beacon today and it worked great on my 9.4 mil rope. BUT, it is a tad heavier than an aluminim ATC and is a bit more costly. Not something that everyone would want to run out and get, but for a lonely gear whore with some money burning a hole in his pocket......

I have one of these lil pups. Nothing else quite says "BACK THE FUCK OFF MOTHERFUCKER in such an understated, yet definitive manner when you draw down and/or slide the reciever back. Additionaly, you are less likely to have bullets fly through 2 houses and kill a neighbors kid. BUT, you'll get some kick, don't know what your wife is like.... BTW, highly consider taking the CW classes. Good luck Choda, damn if thats a good neighborhood....
