Especially important for gals to be covered...when my wife had twins (!!), her doc told her that if they required a stay in the NICU (since many twins are preemies), we could figure automatically that the bill would exceed $100K. $100K!! Luckily all was well + we have always griped but paid for decent health ins. Nobody, especially child-bearing women, can afford that kind of financial risk.

Everybody should buy health insurance! (Unless you are an undocumented non-American worker who will take free service at the emergency room and then head back home, leaving the rest of us to pay for it.) Sure, the cost of health care leaves a lot of us feeling like we are being triple-teamed by Dr.s, drug companies, and insurance co.s. But it is a fact of life, and you need at least a catastrophic insurance policy to keep you from unexpectedly being financially burdened for years if you had a big health problem. Think of it like paying taxes...sux, but ya have to do it!

What's the best 'musical scene' in your head? Every trip, climb, etc. has a set of associated music that was going on, over & over in yr head...some of my best musical memories are because the trip was great, but sometimes the 'background music' made the trip great. My favorite: VW beetle, smoke inside...Neil Young's Like a Hurricane comes on the radio... Then me & my bud surf a head-high break all alone for a good 2 hours before anyone else discovers the waves.

Not old-school...I started lurking just in time to catch wind of the Muir Hut incident...that and other endless and funny spray, coupled with good TRs and info kept me lurking along for months...until I decided to go legit and register.

Okay, sorry I missed the mention, but unfortunately do not have time to read everything on the board. However, I know that you know what I'm talkin' about...new avatars like Captain Cock and crap like that. If someone cooks up a new alias once-in-awhile it can be clever. Recently it seems there's been a flood and a lot of people have been reinventing themselves.

Also, I know most people on this site won't admit to going to REI, but the flagship store in Denver has a large guidebook section and map department.

For scrambles you might pick up one of the Gerry Roach books (Colorado 14ers, etc.). Used it this summer, it was accurate, had a blast.
