Anybody else think it is lame that Todd named the fabric "ToddTex" considering it isn't like he invented it or anything? It sounds dorky. IGs use the exact same fabric and they didn't name it BobTex or JoshTex or SteveTex or something. pointless bitch over. -josh

In case y'all are deaf, I would like to again mention that the 301 has a true barometric altimiter and magnetic compass. Considering you can get it for less than the retail of a 201 if you just look online it is the definite way to go, IMHO. The battery excuse is BS. They make AAA lithium batteries now. Just carry an extra set of those -- they weigh nothing.

Wait, I am confused...how in the heck did you get from Ingalls Lake to the Cascadian Coulior?? They are nowhere near eachother. In any event, that is a damn funny TR , but I am just a bit confused.

No chance of convincing Turkey (our only true ally in that entire region) of creation of a Kurdish state...

Afraid of being wiped out?? That has to be the most ridiculous assertion. As CBS said, they are more than willing to kill themselves, no matter what the odds. Fighting insane people willing to die for "religous" reasons is a whole different ball game. How do you suggest partitioning up the country? The current problem isn't the devide between the three groups.

As suspected it is UTS that are the real tools here. I would think twice about letting them profit from yoru little adventure. I have lived nearly the past year in CO and grew up in WA and I can say that the people are pretty much the same. Most nice, some jerks The only thing more laid back in CO is the mountains themselves. T-minus 8 days and then back in the Cascades! Yah! -
No. You cannot encompass the beliefs of everybody. Faith isn't limited to a set of known formed religions. Seperation of church and state means that the state stays out of matters of faith and leaves that between people and their respective higher powers. My proposed solution to those that do not feel comfortable swearing upon a bible? Allow people to swear upon a copy of the US constitution.

35 degrees!?!? Since when is the ice on the backside of dragontail 35 degrees? Granted it is a pain in the ass, and can be dangerous when icy, but I never thought it was anywhere near that steep.

I have no problem with foreign invesment or outright foreign ownership of U.S. companies but I dont think we have the obligation to allow ownership of a US company by a foreign state.

Briliant guys...glad money time and effort was wasted because you forgot to simply add one of the couple most important pieces of "gear" to your pack... is right.

Just an FYI...the "renquist court" simply refers to the time period of the court with his as chief justice, it isn't some liberal mead up phrase or anything. You'll also see references to the "berger court", etc. I've actually thought for a while a better title for the current court would be the "O'connor court". In most of the big cases of the past decade it has been SHE that has msde the decision. She is the swing vote of this court.

I am big into gadgets and have the 60CS and the geko 301. The 60CS does everything and its mapping is awesome. It has everything you could want in a GPS and is a very powerful navigation tool. On the other hand the Geko is super light and you can take it on any trip where you are concerned about weight and size. I would highly recommeed the Geko 301 because you can find them FOR LESS THAN $150 NEW ON EBAY from reliable sellers. DO NOT PAY THE $230 FOR RETAIL!!!!!!!!!!!! The geko 301 has a magnetic compass and barometric altimiter all in that tiny package and for the non-ripoff non-retail price it is a great GPS.

It certainly helps, thats for sure. We can thank our fearless leader for selling the country to Asia while at the same time preaching for American leadership and security. How they manage to pull the wool over the country's eyes is still beyond me. Vote republican for national security. Ha. What a farce. -josh

Funny, I haven't seen you bitch a single time about your beloved Republican administration and Congress continually supporting corporate power over workers and families. From the 2 minute summary I'm not sure I like this decision, but you are a hypocrite.

Yeah, but being the first to traverse the southern pickets is a far cry from slogging up three horribly boring routes in what you claim is record time and then posting on some website where you know nobody under the heading "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE". I'm sure they are both cool guys, and if I ever seem the around time I would give them a for their accomplishment, but the whole post and naming of this accomplishment is pretty stupid. -

Nothing lets me "uncage my soul" in the mountains like rolling from one low-angle slog to another in a minivan. It is relaxing in that plush velour interior that makes me realize why I climb. -

Layton nails it right on...this shit is just weak. They slogged up a couple of easy routes in quick time. That's cool and good for them. How driving fast between them makes this some sort of interesting feat I have no idea. This state (CO) is consumed with numbers and lists much more than actual cool climbing. Ticking off the "fourteeners" for many people involves walking up some of the most boring peaks you'll ever walk up. I should know, I have done a bunch of them. Now, granted, there are also some really fun ones and plenty of other really cool things to do. And before I get flamed i also said for "many people"...there are plenty of real and badass climbers here. -
That area of the Glacier Peak wilderness is one of my favorite places. The valleys and big peaks are just gorgeous. Spider Meadow is another favorite, along with the view down to the Lyman Lakes from the Spider Glacier Col. -josh

Hey Klenke, one of your pics in the summitpost page names the Boston Glacier as the largest glacier in the 48. It isn't tho, just in the NCNP. The big volcanoe glaciers (in particular Rainer and Baker) are quite a bit larger... -josh

Whatever, it is a perfectly fine topic. If I put in the effort (or, more importantly, the money) to climb Everest the last thing I want to see on the summit is a chopper, with our without a fatass. It has nothing to do with the fact that he "cheated" but the fact that the mountains are no place for that crap. I would no sooner want to arrive on the summit of a hard earned Cascade wilderness peak and have a chopper show up either. Hopefully the Tibetan and Nepalese governments will do something about it. Technically (unless given clearance) this toolshed was not only violating their airspace but "trespassing". I wonder if he technically needs a permit? On a totally unrelated note, what is the utility of a chopper that can fly that high? About the only use I can think of is to rescue climbers off Himalayan peaks. However, Obviously there is no business incentive for that. Then again, building something just to compete with the USA seems incentive enough for the Europeans to waste money on things.

Yes, but take into account the Spring has been pretty much nothing but clouds and rain so far. Hopefully the soil is soaking up some of the moisture...

Wow, this has to be one of the lamest chestbeats I have seen. Three climbs back-to-back with driving between them? I'm gonna do a bunch of climbs in a row and call that the something-or-other megafecta! Seriously, this is nothing compared to some of the other strange peak-bagging "acomplishments" that are thrown around here in CO. -
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! griz, did I mention I got yelled at when I didn't call my GF from my sat phone from the top of Grays Peak? I arrived home just minutes before a rescue attempt was launched!
