  1. Josh, reasonable people in the center dislike the guy, because he is a cynical misfit who is not in search of the truth, but instead out to put people down. Funny thing about people who deep-down distrust other people's motives all the time. I've hired a lot of people over the years, and given a lot of personality profile tests to people for management, sales, and admin jobs. I have made several hires when people scored low on "trust" and damn if they haven't been the very ones who turned out to be untrustworthy themselves. I guess it's a "I know you're going to fuck me, so I'll make sure I fuck you first" mentality. I believe that Michael Moore has this personality trait. How does he not represent the truth? Read his page, he has the documentation (and the video clips ) to back up everything he has said. He presents his movie in a comedic tone so people actually go to it or rent it. Give me a break, the NRA and it's chronies are all about spreading fear and loathing and ruthlessly bringing down anybody they see as an enemy.
  2. Damn, I need to find the article I was talking about, but it addresses this very point. The common strategy, esp. when teh incumbent is strugling is apparently not to nail yourself down to anything particular until nearing the end of the elction when you can capitolize on his failures. Yes, typical politics, but the article was explaining that this has been the strategy for a long long time; it isn't new to this election.
  3. I asked the same thing, but never really got much of a reply. I know the one big thing is that apparently serving your country with great decoration then returning home and standing up for what is right is "turning your back on your fellow soldiers" or some other sort of crap. The new campaign ads with his shipmates praising him are pretty good. Funny, but I haven't seen anybody from the texas air national guard step up and defend dubya's heroic service in defending the skys of texas from the mighty mexican air force or his piles of concain from law inforcement.
  4. Yes, i can certainly believe that you concluded this. There is a reason the right wing hates him and is afraid of him...lots of people listen to him.
  5. Outright laws, eh? Actually, I don't like the animosity that politics stirs up between people. I think it's time for a group hug. lies, not laws.
  6. I would argue he has provided ample opportunies to display his stupidity. My favorite quite from his supporters early on was "he doesn't have to know everything, he surrounds himself with very smart people" Granted, stupid is probably a huge overstatement but I would be willing to bet he is the least intelligent president in history both in terms of reasoning skills and world knowledge in general.
  7. That's the Al Franken Book. But I'm sure you knew that already. Oops, my bad. Misremembered. But Moore's on the same level with "Dude, where's my country?" and the like. Have you actually read an Al Franken book? Like more than 5 or 10 pages? I have, I read "Lies..." and not only is it extremely informative but it reads well and is entertaining. Unlike Bill O'Nazi and the like, he does an excellent job of providing footnote after footnote backing up every single one of his claims. He gives you the information you need to go and check every one of the assertions if you please. He also methodically disproves outright laws spread by Bill O'Nazi and friends.
  8. Brilliant. Thanks for finding what I was too lazy to look up. His detractors fear him, and, frankly, I'm glad to have him on the good guys team.
  9. More than anything, I enjoyed an intelligent, well-spoken commander in chief, instead of the mumbling moron we have now.
  10. If I could have voted for Bill Clinton, I gladly would have. I actually liked him, I didn't just hate the other guys. Give me lies about banging ugly chicks anyday over lies about real issues!
  11. That is the point. I haven't seen the movie but my guess somebody on the other side of the fence could provide an argument against all that crap. More importantly, the NRA isn't exactly a fair and biased organization interested in only presenting the facts, good or bad.
  12. I need to find this article I read the other day, it was quite interesting. In essence the argument (or noted trend, rather) is that even in elections where the incumbent loses badly, the challengers numbers never rate much higher than a tie until the last few weeks or months of the election. The trend was displayed for both D and R incumbents.
  13. Ugh, well, here goes... "The Denver event was the annual NRA meeting, whose place and date had been fixed years in advance." If they cared one bit they could have moved the meeting. "The meeting was a “get out the vote” rally, which took place eight months later, during the election season." an NRA get out the vote rally is a pro-gun rally. Claiming otherwise would be like claiming a get out the vote rally held by the sierra club was not pro-environment. "South Africa has the highest murder rate in the world (twelve times greater than America’s)." C'mon, let's not compare ourselves to a country in Africa which not long ago fought a virtual civil war between races. I'd like to think we could hold ourselves to a higher standard, such as other wester countries, where, coincidentally we have a higher gun death count than western europe and australia combined. "The U.S. murder rate is lower than the world average (5.5 versus 8.5 per 100,000 population)." This one is just plain dumb...yeah, let's compare our murder rate to the world average, which includes such fine contries like Somalia, the Congo, East Timor, Haiti and Afghanistan! "The NRA was founded by former Union Army officers who fought a war to end slavery. Civil War veteran Maj. Gen. Ambrose Burnside was the NRA’s first president." The Civil war did not end slavery nor did fighting for the union mean you had any desire to end slavery. Yes, slavery was abolished closely following the civil war, but in way did the union army fight simply to free the slaves "The U.S. President who signed the act making the Klan an illegal organization was later elected the NRA's eighth president—Ulysses S. Grant." The KKK was not only anti-black but also highly anti-republican. Note that the parties platforms were esentially switched from today's dems and repubs. Party leaders recognized that not dealing with the KKK could jepordize the very existance of the republican party in the south as voters had become threatened and wary. After quite a bit of debate the KKK Act of 1871 was passed. It also did not make the clan an illegal organization, it simply made it "illegal for any organization to deprive voters of their civil rights and banned efforts to bar any citizen from holding public office". "Three times as many people die from being struck by lightning" than school shootings, thus school shootings aren't a problem" Please explain this one to the parents of all the kids who have been killed at school. Yeah, getting struck by lightning would suck...shit happens, but can we honestly say that asking for kids to be safe at school is too much?
  14. How is it possibly that Kerry is any worse than GWB? I admit, I haven't looked into all of the supposed character issues people bring up, but even assuming he is a total schmuck, that leaves me comparing the platforms of two complete schmucks with poor characters. Georgie's character is a complete joke as well. I guess that leaves us to simply choose which scumbag represents our beliefs better. Note: I dont actually think Kerry is a schmuck, I am simply point out that arguing that Bush represents a higher moral standard is pretty unfair.
  15. Yeah, somebody already posted this. I like the Bush spoksmen quite, because, remember, George Bush never plays politics! While I certainly don't think this shows he really doesn't care about the jobless, I think he was totally dumb to miss it. He should have known Bush n' Co and the media would jump all over it. Seems like a huge political blunder.
  16. Yes, he got a higher call from Jesus telling him to ruin America and infuriate those damn pesky muslims!

Good point. But you gotta admit, aruging with GregW (where is he lately, anyway?) and fairweather is at least reasonably intelligent. They can make points and stand behind them and while I may disagree, they at least know what they are talking about and provide supporting cases. This tool just blathers.

Yeah, his website explains it all. Like I said last night...not a pimply faced teen. Still a pretty unattractive guy, but not a tenneager.
  20. Not that I know what it is yet, of course.
  21. diesels are also getting very cheap to convert to biofuel. Hopefully we'll start to see the cost of this come down. At that point a TDI is probably the best choice currently in existance!
  22. Most of all, at least hybrids, clean burning TDIs are a step in the right direction! They are not perfect yet, but it's a hellavu lot better than the current crop of gas guzzlers and SUVs.
  23. Life is full of regrets such as this. The horror! Just kiddin ya, I think my kid picked out a metolius nut for my birthday because it was the "prettiest" one at Cascade Crags. As such, it will addorn my rack until it meets its fate. But you are right, I don't really like any of thier stuff except the TCUs are ok. Oh, their nuts I have are just fine, don't get me wrong. (that sounded bad) I just figure in the future I wont give my money to a company that cranks out the crap products I mentioned above.

I have no idea what you said, but I'm sure it was either denial or an attack on me. In any event, that's all I wanted to post...to at least straighten that little matter out.
