  1. Non sequitur right, there is no relation between the epidemiology of foodborne illnesses and the food industry feeding us shit.
  2. well, the definition of free-range seem to change which is unfortunate but knowing what's a battery chicken is much more critical to your health.
  3. of course, I agree. This is what I am saying. Entire communities have lost the knowledge of cooking regular meals due to being torn apart by economic hardship.
  4. it's not a problem specific to black communities and nobody claimed it was solely a problem of education that would be solved in short order. It has also to do with communities, therefore jobs, etc ..
  5. "Every year there are an estimated 76 million foodborne illnesses in the United States (26,000 cases for 100,000 inhabitants), 2 million in the United Kingdom (3,400 cases for 100,000 inhabitants) and 750,000 in France (1,220 cases for 100,000 inhabitants)." JayB's "free will" at work.
  6. Right, repeatedly choosing nasty battery chicken over a free-ranger is clearly the exercise of free will LOLZ
  7. lots of nutrition experts (to stay on topic) agree about it too. Funny how that works. Are you going all post-modern relativist on us?
  8. Actually this is pretty much par for the course from the dead-enders.
  9. so where is the problem?
  10. These pics are wild. I'd go for the Sicilian diet myself.
  11. dude, just eat balanced regular home cooked food and you'll be fine for most purpose.
  12. indeed, although this is more of a socio-cultural phenomenon than strictly an education issue. Many educated people have destructive habits but the junk food effect has reached epidemic proportions so it is a real economic issue for all of us, not just for those making a profit. It's literally their economic interest against ours.
  13. ask whoever dragged that rotten corpse into this thread.
  14. that's about it, considering the health crisis due to junk food should make one think that your approach isn't working too well. eating junk is unhealthy when you eat a lot of it and not much else, but your example is a fallacy insofar you could give the starving kid healthy food for not more money (or for more money if you want) are you saying that advertisers spend many billions on a technique that doesn't work? I thought that parenting was among the most difficult thing I had ever done.
  15. the father, the son and the holy spirit?
  16. just to be clear the relevant PART of your post is this one: "Argumentum ad hominem is the logical fallacy of attempting to undermine a speaker's argument by attacking the speaker instead of addressing the argument. The mere presence of a personal attack does not indicate ad hominem" The rest of your post is however largely dross.
  17. LOLZ truth hurts, doesn't it?
  18. I am glad you FINALLY took the time to understand what ad-hominem means. You'll note that your post confirms what I was saying about people who systematically attack the person rather than make a counter argument even if it laced with insults that relate to the offending behavior.
  19. How Marketers Target Kids Kids represent an important demographic to marketers because they have their own purchasing power, they influence their parents' buying decisions and they're the adult consumers of the future. Industry spending on advertising to children has exploded in the past decade, increasing from a mere $100 million in 1990 to more than $2 billion in 2000.
  20. I understood your post as saying that since any intelligent person knows that McD's is unhealthy, it is solely their responsibility to avoid eating it or avoid watching propaganda trying to get them to eat it.
  21. are you saying that not watching commercial TV is a pre-requisite to not eating shit on a regular basis?
  22. the interweb behavior phenomenon in this context has more to do with nationalists trying to shout down skeptics of official PR than anybody's ability to recognize what they have been doing for the last 2 weeks.
  23. Right, repeatedly spewing the "conspiracy theorists" meme about skeptics of official PR isn't an attempt to shout them down, no siree bob
  24. j_b

    FINALLY! Bin Laden DEAD!

right, nationalism took no part in the politics of the last decade
  25. I like how e-rock now pretends it's all a big joke after he spent the last 2 weeks going after skeptics of official PR. while rob, of course, is still in the mode of spewing garbage.
