  1. Any idea on the conditions up there right now? I might be up for it.
  2. right on! don't succumb to the snow-bored.
  3. A descent down the standard South route of S. Sister via Green Lakes would work too, though a little less interesting. Not sure if you have climbed S. Ridge of North Sister yet, but one traverse can be quite intimidating for newer mountaineers at times when it gets icy. The bowling alley can be a difficult icy downclimb too, or very straightforward when dry. Have fun.

As evidenced by http://www.dictionary.com , we can see that the definition of irony is quite different from what its above misuse might suggest: irony \I"ron*y\, a. [From Iron.] 1. Made or consisting of iron; partaking of iron; iron; as, irony chains; irony particles. [R.] And the verb form of irony is "to iron". Get it right folks.

  9. i prefer the traditional low-molarity phosphoric acid solution, w/a touch of citric acid and K benzoate. The tingle on the mouth is unbeatable. cheers!
  10. Dunno. Here he is getting ready to bivy. His alpine senses tell him rain is on the way!
  11. No, but there is a joint operation coming up soon to get all the teams down there again to scour the mountain. Should be a fun chossfest.

  13. Does that guy have some requirement to always have at least 1 hand on his chin at all times?
  14. The sweater and bibs in the second picture are being worn by a man? INCONCEIVABLE!
  15. Here's a question. I used duct tape to cover up tears in my jacket. I finally have a second jacket and want to send off the old one for repair to patagonia, but after removing the duct tape, there's a bunch of sticky stuff left behind. How do I get rid of this stuff?

  21. Here's the one I have, I think the new ones are yellowish: I bought mine in 2000 I believe. Can't say much for the waterproofing, everything gets wet (they may have made this better in future models). I like mine a lot, but it definitely gives the nod to function over comfort.
  22. Fun climb though. You'd probably agree, it's the typical Oregon climb. Not too technically difficult, but the consequences of a mistake are pretty grim. Some of us are still looking for the last guy to fall up there (or we presume he fell up there, last seen heading up the N. Sister).
  23. Fun stuff eh? It's probably about 5.2 or so but it certainly can scare the bejeezus out of you. Did you come up a north side route? Was that steep little hanging snow patch there? I got on that a few years ago and thought for sure the whole thing was coming off with me down the east face. Did you head back down the south ridge?
