    Oops

well that's more than I know. I was going by the stabilizing fins on the tail, which look like 207s and not the 407. Either way, expensive mistake! Are you lucky enough to work with these helicopters Greg? I wish I had a job flying them.
  2. But only if it wasn't the climbers faults. If it was a mistake on the climbers' parts, let'em suffer like the miserable wretches that that are, bleeding on the rocks in humilating defeat.

you might be right greg, looks more like a jetranger now.

Incredible. I seem to remember a similar accident up in Canada heading in for some skiing when the chopper settled down in some snow causing some low rotors, and on takeoff caught the prop in a snow drift (invisible in the flat light), killing 2 people.

Was that recent? Bell 407 crash = $2.5 million mistake. Hope everyone's okay, those things are thin and light.
  6. Well you might be able to find that out by asking their opinions about the Congentrix deal at Smith.
  7. There will be plenty to go around when Yellowstone wakes up again.
  8. Climbing is restricted on the east side of Mt. Jefferson for the same reason. I don't mind, and I don't need proof Warm Springs views it as holy or not. I say let it be, it's just a cave. Greg, funny how you feel "the liberals" (as you love to categorize them) are pretending to be on some academic high ground when you pull out the "You're so naive" routine. Remember, the native americans are not doing it out of fear, they are refusing to be victims any longer. What a crock.
  9. took you 8 months to come up with that one, eh?
  10. People don't seem to head into JPG in the fall and early winter for some reason, but when I was there a year or so ago it was a blast! Tons of ice bouldering up the middle of the glacier and an exciting run up a thin snow ramp on the right of the schrund. It can be a much longer route than when covered though. Nice report!
  11. Agreed, the Najas are killer, used them up on some glacier stuff earlier. Nice and light, and the shaft is narrow so your forearms don't wear out.
  12. Jon, I have even more respect for you now. The popular opinion about Macs these days is so notoriously-uninformed it is sickening. Mac OS X is an incredible triumph in operating system design. It is a breath of fresh air in the industry, so far ahead of the latest Microsoft bullshit. My dad now runs the same platform on his iMac that serves up some of the biggest, most mission-critical web sites in the world, and he barely knows how email works. He is a computing novice and is in love with it. I jockey code for a living and I am in love with it. Can't go wrong there. A PC-compatible laptop was purchased in this day and age, because of compatibility issues? It's saddening. Macs support networking with any platform right out of the box these days.

  21. Shuffleboard. With the cruiseships all filled with sick lepers the sport has seen a decline in viewership over the past week. Apparently, there's some renewed interest here.

  24. Muffy I've never seen a cat that likes water besides some lions and stuff. I've got scars. The funniest thin I've seen is the vet's cat straightjacket, which basically makes a football-sized tube with a howling cat head at the top.
