  1. please lord make it stop
  2. not ringing a bell and damn proud of it
  3. for two ropes of different diam., the "classic" knot is the double sheet bend, backed up by double fisherman's on each side. This is actually the knot used by some mtn rescue units, as it can be untied very quickly even after subjected to a huge (litter, 2 attendants, patient) load. Here's a picture: This is a bit much for rec. climbing, but there it is. It is often taped up after tying to run through kootenays or over edge pro.
  4. see the image in a post near the beginning...I think that's what you are talking about. Nice to see the monthly rope-joining knot discussion is in full swing again.
  5. Did you get that off a licorice retailer's website?
  6. Do you have a quote book with these things in it? Please tell me where to get a copy.
  7. It looks sketchy as hell when you tie it.
  8. I'd recommend you confirm we are talking about the same thing with someone showing you the knot. Would be a bummer if the was some miscommunication.
  9. there are two figure 8's out there that fire up this little controversy. Using a figure 8 in a euro death knot config is dangerous as said above. It can be used like a square knot though, with the tails backed up. No real point that I can see though. EDK seems to work just fine.
  10. DMM's are very cool with that keylock system on a wiregate, nothing to catch on. Too expensive for me though. Stupid brits!
  11. This is Ruedi Beglinger's group is it not?
  12. 7 victims means a lot of telephone calls and confirmation before names get released.
  13. Might have a better chance at finding beached architeuthis sp. in Baffin Dru, here's your chance. Better come back for some fun at Smith though.
  14. I shouldn't be at work today, I should be climbing in the name of Dr. Martin Luther King!
  15. crystal sucks and you know it, just ask alpinek BTW the corn skiing on Hood is spectacular right now.
  16. must take a lot of unexpected whippers, followed by some incoherent sentence in gibberish.
  17. don't you belong on powdermag?
  18. softens the landing, I say.
  19. wasn't directed at you, just the attitude of the thread. as for deleting posts, I don't really care, I know I make a contract with the owners every time I post that they have the license to pull it, even if they just don't like it.
  20. I think Matt is going to start moderating his own topic here in a second...
  21. I think DFA made a wine recommendation awhile back?
  22. well I can't seem to edit my first post, but the route in the picture is slightly off. Crackman has given me some great pictures of where we were. Here's one with the right route with us at the start. Thanks Crackman, nice pics!
