I think what you have is people saying "I don't like the moral direction this country is going and I will vote for somebody who I think will put it on the right track." These people aren't interested in saying "well, it (insert questionable moral issue here) doesn't hurt me so they can do what they want" because they feel it does in fact have a negative impact on them and the country because it is wrong.

I guess we are going to have to agree to disagree on this moral issue then. I have no problem with Bush trying to uphold his moral sense of things - I think that is why many people voted for him. They believed he reflected their morals and would fight to maintain them. So, maybe the problem here isn't Bush. Maybe you should be asking why do many Americans believe that morality should be protected across the country while other Americans don't.

Everything, of course. And yes, there is only one right answer to every question. What I mean here is that no, I don't my views are absolutely right all of the time and there may be more than one way to answer questions and solve problems. I'm willing to negotiate on issues, but I feel that some people here aren't. Fine - that is their deal, but their approach - and I'm not necessarily talking about you here sexual chocolate - seems to just be to bitch about Bush getting reelected and then tell everybody else they are fucking stupid for voting for him and Bush should die. This is truly is dumb and to a certain extent, is similar to how politicians in Washington, DC operate. And people wonder why nothing ever gets done.

Well, my side is correct. Don't you try to do the same?

Well thank you, I try. What are you talking about "into," btw?

Kask - You are putting forth a valiant effort, but I am afraid you will never talk sense into these people. Fortunately, they are in the minority in the country - and it is pretty obvious why. Most people are more civil and have more sense than many of the posters in this thread. Brick walls are more receptive than the crew here on cc.com. Have a beer and stick to the climbing stories.
  7. http://www.geophys.washington.edu/recenteqs/Maps/122-47.htm If you look at the map it shows two quakes on Sunday for Ranier. Both about a mile deep and 1 mile south of the mountain. Beats me how accurate this really is (location quality says "good"). But as Norman_Clyde says, interesting either way.

  9. Hmmmm. Cool. Do they work?
  10. Chains suck (you never put em on when its nice and sunny out in your garage for one) - though DOT will require you to em going over the passes sometimes - four wheel drives are often exempt from this. I would go with some snow tires - thus hopefully avoiding having to use the chains very often - unless DOT required them.
  11. Those Australian jokes are getting good. Got any more?
  12. I dunno about that stuff about climbers being similar to crazy sex fiend psycho drug crazy dudes. I do know some climbers like that, but I also know climbers who are more into math and physics.
  13. Haha! I remember him saying this one. Unreal. "No question now that Kerry's rapidly reaching the point where he's got his back to the wall, his shirttails on fire and the bill collector's at the door." Of course, this one is pretty good too."I know that you'd rather walk through a furnace in a gasoline suit than consider the possibility that John Kerry would lose Ohio." WTF? Gasoline suit!!??

    mandatory voting?

Vote or die was definitely the shit. Fortunately, I had the foresight to chose voting over dying. I feel sorry for those suckers that didn't, though. Of course higher turnout would be good for America. However, I don't see how forcing people to vote can be beneficial. Think of some stupid guy at work - would you want him to have to vote!? In America, the people who don't know or don't care generally don't vote. Nothing wrong with that. Think of it as having 5th graders vote - they don't know shit and usually, neither would the people being forced to vote. Of course it would be better if people did in fact know and did care, but this isn't a perfect world.

  17. Actually I have really wanted to check out sailing. There are tons of people out on the water at Annapolis on little boats that look pretty fun.
  18. Yeah thanks a lot. I'm gonna go scope it out, but my hopes aren't that high. Saw some pictures of Tuckerman - damn the crowd was HUGE!
  19. Whatever geniuses. He was obviously smart enough to win the Presidency - and half the country thinks he is smart enough to go four more years.
  20. Now that's what I'm talking about. Thirty five bucks an acre!
  21. Nice movie. What's the song playing in the background?
  22. Don't see why it wouldn't be. Snow isn't that low yet.
  23. Tooth pick man skiing sounds like the shit. You have experience with setting up some sick runs or what? Didn't realize paddling was so big out here. Definitely have to check that out - I live off of craigs list.
  24. $59 for a holiday weekend pass at Sunday River!? Damn. May have to trade in the planks for some ice tools as you suggest.
  25. Yeah I've heard that there is stuff in W. VA and PA, but I'm certainly looking into making a trip up to New England if it is gonna be worth it.
