yep seatle climbers interested, as soon as the sun shines eugene pub club goes at 5:30 at the collums you are more than welcome to join us and check out our back yard crag. the collums are an amazing resource, but not all the cracks there are climable or worth climbing for that matter. after about 14 years or so on that little crag i think layed back is familure with what goes and what doesn't.

uuhh flagstone? that is just outside of Blue River although i don't think it is visible from 126.

uuhh I don't know if i am a big enough girl to realy respond, but it is my understanding that all those nice holds in the thin cracks are thanks to pin scars. i agree with those who have said that it is prolly not a great idea to be nailing up fat crack or limp dick any more... but over on the right where no one realy climbs and it is all choss any way.... i do not see and issue with it. it isn't like you were drilling a bolt in. and leaving it. again my limited understanding is that knife blades are removed when you are done with the climb. that said there are alot of inexperienced climbers at the collums. perhaps the person hasseling you just didn't understand what you were up to. the collums are great training ground. another good person to contact would be Bill Sules (sooles) however you spell it. I believe he placed the chains at the top for our top roping pleasure and helps maintain the area to some degree or other. YAY responsible climbers. if i were you i would look at it as you contribution to the education of new climbers
