  1. AWESOME! Makes me want to make the long drive up from Oregon again for the long weekend.
  2. Do you guys know the address for the van arcteryx store?
  3. I like my cloudveil icefloe gloves. They are padded and warm enough for everything but the coldest temps (though I have never found them cold yet). Very good dexterity. I like to ski in them too. The only problem is the leather wears out fast, though I'd definately pony up for another pair if the price was right. BD ice gloves are warmer but definately sacrifce dexterity.

Anyone know if the skiing has improved on the north side of Hood? Elliot had some snow and snowdome looked decent. Road open?
  5. I was up there last weekend and both of the regular flows were in but thin in sections. The one on the right looked good except about 2/3 of of way up when it looked thin and spicy. We lapped out the one on the left. Didn't go to the top, but the ice was very solid for how it looked. I wonder if the road is still open now that there has been some new snow.
  6. looks like fun
  7. Do any of you ski deprived maniacs (like myself) know what the conditions are on Adams? South Spur/Chutes? Lots of rocks out? Road condidtions? Any better places to make turns on that SOB?
  8. I didn't think the NF would be in with all the warm weather. Very nice.
  9. ice
  10. Looks amazing. Thank the snow gods.
  11. How do the Garmont boots do? Mega-ride vs. g-ride? Mega-ride seems to be a lighter weight version of the g-ride. Does it ski as well? Adrenalin seems to be an alpine boot with a hinged cuff - to much boot even for moderate touring. Maybe I'm wrong. In addition, the g-ride weights little less than the adrenalin - seems like with a difference of 2 oz. you might as well go all out with the adrenalin. Lowa's are crazy heavy - 9lbs. G-lites weight as much as the mega-rides. Mega's seem like the best of all worlds if they ski well (except for price of course). Agree/disagree? Nobody's mentioned dynafit.
  12. I'm sure it's been discussed before but what are peoples' favorite AT boots for skiing. I've been using alpine boots in my AT setup and would like to get something more comfortable for the hike yet still be able to rip. Weight is less of an issue than skiing performance.
  13. Sorry to thread drift but . . . I've been considering getting a pair of half ropes for alpine/ice for conveinience of rappel and weight (i.e. using only one for simple glacier travel). But a few questions come to mind: (1) if you're only clipping one rope at a time, and therefore falling on one rope at a time, technically shouldn't one rope be able to hold a fall. (2) Isn't clipping one rope of a half easier than two twins? (3)Also, is it remiss to clip both half ropes to a biner (negate impact force benefit or something)? It seems that if you're running it out - as most of us seem to do on ice - you would want both ropes running through the draw.
  14. It's open all the way to the trailhead now.
  15. Does anybody know the conditions of the roads and trails approaching Mt Jefferson. I'm thinking specifically about Jefferson Park and Whitewater road. Snow? Fallen trees? Thanks.
  16. One of those threads was mine from last week. I've been looking all weekend. Just wanted to see of anyone could help ... dipshit
  17. Not checking Multnomah for climbing just to see what kind of ice is forming around there dipshit. Thanks for the help
  18. Any of you Portlanders or gorge dwellers want to tell me there is fat ass ice in the gorge? I have the day off school tommorrow and want to head up there. Any suggestions for where to look even if ice is shitty like I'm expecting? I stopped by Multnomah last night on the way back from Meadows but couldn't see much and was freezing my ass of in 20 degree weather with a stiff wind. I'll prolly head up that way anyway expecting nothing and bring my skis. This winter has been fucking awesome for skiing but shit for climbing in Oregon.
  19. Does anyone know if the gorge ice is shaping up at all?
  20. I just got back from Alaska where I finally got to climb some real water ice. I'm totally exited about ice climbing and was wondering if there is any ice still in. I live in Oregon but am interesed if anybody knows of any ice in Oregon or Washington. I know I will probably have to face the sad truth that spring is here and climbs are melting out, but I was just wondering if anybody knew anything. Thanks.
