  10. patrick is there, but i dont think it is a practical application. it would have to be funded by the government. and that would mean huge tax increases. the current suggestion is a compromise. the loggers can clear it away while making a profit. if they are not gonna make proffit, which the wouldn't in fringe urban areas, why would they do it? for charity? sure.
  11. not a seasonal, but in the wintertime, i like McKewans 9% and thick as a brick.
  12. totally agreed. read it. they are not proposing this.
  13. uhm. how? i was under the impression that it was due to teh fact that we squelch natural fires and in doing so allow for an accumulation of fuel for said fires.
  14. I love this fiona gal. She is just like ONE OF THE GUYS. precisely. if its all good with you, i will just keep on pretending that she is a girl. pseudo-ignorance is bliss.

  16. yeah, well you are gonna burn down 1000's or acres at a time instead of pruning said acreage. taking <10% in order to save 100%. you do the math.
  17. me neither.
  18. are talking about tree thinning in the forests? cause if we are it is a good idea. either that, or we let the wildfires burn their natural course. if we dont do one or the other, we will have big wildfires.
  19. Not with birds, but down here around San Diego, we have seasonal closures for a few crags the first part of the year due to sensitive raptor habitat. And, the FS is serious about enforcing the closures--$10,000 fine. I believe that closures are there for reasons...and should/need to be respected... uhm... what do you think a raptor is?
  20. they needed justification to ban pope. if they didn't ban you, it would look a litle funny.
  21. yeah no worries with making death threats though. that is cool. talk about bolts...
  22. i like letting the wood holds get naturally polished. have some of teh bondo/sand holds too. the slippery ones help me on my foot work and my accuracy. it really does help. the only think i can think of for texturing wood holds would be to use large grit sand paper every once in a while. everything else'd probably crack off (like you said). watch the splinters!
