  1. Pretty sure the Marriot to Rohr to Cayoosh triangle is firmly non-motorized to recognize the WT Hut area: RA1 in the LRMP draft . . .
  2. i.e. Miller Creek (Ipsoot) will likely be zoned RA1-A in the LRMP. This designation is non-motorized, but allows for heli operations . . . in that sense, the heli tenure, while by no means ideal, may ensure a modicum of non-motized activity. Depends how you see it/how it gets zoned, I guess. http://ilmbwww.gov.bc.ca/lup/lrmp/coast/s2s/reports/CH3-3.3.pdf
  3. HOWEVER, if heli tenure means that motorized users are banned but non-motorized is okay . . . . maybe that's a better proposition?????? Depends on the exact classification it falls under . .
  4. Also, there aint a tonne of great skiing in the Downton. Except for this thing: http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/687822#Post687822 the summits are kinda dry and rocky looks like the gov't is trying to sneak one more heli tenure in before the LRMP is fully implemented? That’s a fucking HUGE tenure, in addition to what was already a HUGE tenure by Cost Range Heli. That Whitecap parcel will be major infringement on Whitecap Alpine’s operations. Mind you, they already do “heli-assisted” touring . . .
  5. 30% is nothing - it'll be fine you friggin wimp
  6. Fred Beckey wearing a russian fur hat walking on the hwy halfway between Squamish and Whistler with no parked car in sight.
  7. Are you sure it was a grizz? They were attempting to reintroduce them into the area about 5-10 yrs ago, but I think most of them were either shot by hunters, or managed to make their way back to the Coast from where they were unfortunately taken in the first place.
  8. If you're in the Pass you're 30-40 mins from a $40 hotel room. Here's a shot of December 27th two years ago when there was 20cm of snow on the ground. You'll notice the absence of slopes in the photo. That's because in the Pass it is possible to have an extreme avalanche warning with 20cms of snow
  9. Hit or miss in December, man. You won't know until the week before if you'll have skiing ANYWHERE.
  10. I think the NEXUS land at P.A. has been closed for a while now . . . Just leave at 4 in the morning and there's no lineup. Rather faster road travel too.
  11. Oh no, there's gonna be TELE skiers there????1?1?!?

  17. Given current currency exchange, I think WB is gonna hafta start some intense incentives to lure folks up. Though I see that on their webpage the Edge Card cost for Americans is significantly lower than Canadians'.

  21. Juast spoke with someone who said there is over a metre around Cerise Creek right now and people are already jibbin on the glacier!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Nothing like a little rain crust action to get some nasty early season layers going: Saturday.. Periods Of Snow Changing To Rain. Snowfall Accumulation 3 To 7 Cm. Rainfall Amounts 4 To 8 Mm. Freezing Level 1700 Metres. Sunday.. Rain Heavy At Times. Windy. Rainfall Amounts 30 To 50 Mm. Freezing Level 2800 Metres. Monday.. Mainly Sunny. Freezing Level 1000 Metres.
  23. That and a 1500' approach would put you over the top of many Scottish peaks.
  24. After seeing my fiance almost get creamed in the head by a stoned nihilist on a snowboard (yes, when there's no snow in the Alps you see some crazy things at Whistler), I think I'm joining the bucket club this year too.
