Seattle brethren, I'll drive and maintain a reasonable level of sobriety, would like to leave ttown 930-10 ish though- I'll pick up people sweeping south out of Beacon Hill 615-30 ish, West Seattlites I can also pick up- You Tacoma boys call the place, isn't it easy to get to the Java Jive off of 16th and ??? the street you turn off to go to Backpackers' Supply? Absolutely, Matt P, this is going to be a gathering and not a work weekend, I just wanted to do something small to put some positive local spin on it. If every one who shows up spends one hour pulling knapweed or picking up litter out on the trails we'd get xxx volunteer hours out of it , give us an obstensible excuse for us all getting togther to explain ourselves to the outsiders looking in- "Whatchoo boys doing out hear?" "Well, officer , we've come together over the weekend to pull knapweed and clean up some crags in the spirit of green recreation in the Icicle Creek Canyon." I'm hoping 009 comes out with some films or slides to show, or anyone else who might want to show some of their cool slides. I'm sure we could rig a converter rig from a car to run a slide show- Dynamite, what kind of music? There's no power and I don't want to be running any generators so it would have to be acoustic sets- Let me know ASAP I'm trying to put togther some flyers by Weds PM.

I didn't know you thought of me in that way, Cavey!

Don't know about the arm, you'll get a couple hunert vert on the glacial patch- maybe better bet would be Eldorado snow if you're going to Cascade Pass. plenty of snow on Fortress Mountain last weekend for maybe 1000 vert 5 mile carry in

Does anyone out here have anything they want to present or do at the Cascade Climbers' Fall Megafest? Slide Show? Films? bouldering competition? battlecage? Mattp , what about a trails day or "Fall sweep" cleanup- put a nice positive green spin on a bunch of climbers getting pissy drunk. I'm thinking of booking a band for Saturday afternoon- Any ideas, feedback let me know-

no, dru, but I do have some cool stuff in my basement- No, before ever meeting Cavey I thought he sounded like some illmannered lout ready to feed some people some knuckle sandwiches, I stand corrected after having met Ray- I've got no beef with him, mabye he wants to "short rope" the Cellphoneposse members to a radiator? why DO you want me to bring the cuffs, Cavey? did you want to use them on Hollyclimber? Don't worry, cavey, you've got a couple things missing from people I date and I don't think you're a late bloomer- I've never seen you climb but i betcha got a NICE RACK!! lol

Sounds like one of the Burgess brothers from Britian or that other whacko Brit alpinist who tagged a lot of firsts in S. America and disappeared on one of them- he was an advocate of halucinogenics on climbs but I've forgotten his name.

How many people want to go to Tacoma on Tuesday? Lisa may have a good idea, a University District bar wouldn't be too bad of an idea with the students away for summer- still ewanting a Bham meet for our Canadian brethren to have convenient access to before the Fall megafest.

Some one should post a thread consisting of the story and nothing else as it grows, so people don't have to keep rewriting the story every time they add a paragraph- Willstrickland, are you the man?

Can't we all just get along? -Rodney King This site reflects our western culture as a whole- The same elements of interpersonal interaction we experience in the real world come to life here, an online doppelganger of ourselves - some of us are rude in everyday life, some of us are humanists. We have self centered posters, selfish posters, mean posters, poser posters- and also smart, thoughtful, curteous posters. I for one am NOT a selfish, mean spirited prick and think most of the CC.com types I've met are far from that- I encourage all to attend a Pub Club meeting to come see in person who some of us climbers really are!

REI sure has come a long way, baby! much too the ire of many longtime customers- Whispers say the REI Board and planners based their continued expansion on unrealistic growth projections- (wow, does that sound like THE business anthem of the last 7-8 years?) that couldn't, wouldn't , didn't get met. Maybe they were having lunches with Jeff Bezos! I wonder how much capital they BLEW on internet related side of REI's growth and expanding into "new" markets like midwest towns and Japan. Become a member of MEC, look at these prices- Malden Mills Powershield jackets for $170 Canadian, a lot of other things are cheaper , too! and they appear to have a high degree of environmental responsibility.

Went north of Lake Wenatchee to alpine on Fortress Mountain, sat around in the snow on Sunday getting tan.

Yes, the editors of ANAM do include nonclimbing related mountain incidents if there is relevance to the climbing community. this is probably not one they would include.
-
Climbing the beautiful glacially polished granites of the Laurentian shield on the shores of Lake Superior, saw my first bolted route in 82 , moved west in the mid eighties to climb Red Rocks/Wind Rivers- If I recall Carolyn, you are in Minneapolis, right? You can go climb Devil's Lake Wisconsin or hunt up Copper Country Michigan, there's probably a bunch of climbs between Deluth and Thunder Bay
-
Thanks Dynamite, you're pretty dynomite yourself, Cavey, it's true, Holly's a hottie and smart to boot, better watch out! Hope to see you at the pub club, come on,Cavey, you know drinking just ups the class/grade of anything you climb~!
