  1. I rember when you had to place gear on the lower part of Heinous.
  2. I was thinking the same thing Cracked. In rereading this thread I would offer one suggestion with regard to Alex's post. Many times it is appropriate to "dirt and untie" don't confuse determination and "go for it" with skill and appropriate behavior. PP
  3. Leavenworth Sunday!!!!!

  5. The answer depends on what you mean by bolted. Leading a “bolted” route at 38 is different than leading a “bolted’ route at the Meadows. In general I find sport type bolt jobs easier to lead than gear routes. The other day I was thinking about how to get better at leading and I decided that what I needed to do was do a wide variety of easier gear routes. The key I theorize is picking a series of routes with different climbing styles and protection requirements. Leading a harder crack climb with trivial protection requirements will do nothing to improve my leading head and may be counter productive because I get too use to bomber pro whenever I want it. Just need to get out and do those routes now. PP
  6. No I screamed and let both the bat and the flake drop.
  7. Anybody have any good bat stories? Once while top roping at Banks Lake I broke a flake off and caught it in my lap. As a reached down to grab it I noticed a squished bat on my leg! I have seen plenty of bats in cracks but that was the only one that I actually touched. PP
  8. Storm!
  9. Check this out: What Democracy Corps found was that Democrats, at least those who are most active in politics, simply don’t care about terrorism. Now think about 1972! McGovern! PP
  10. Damn I hate spin too. By the way James Zogy is not the same as John Zogby who is the poll meister. Ignorance or Spin: you make the call. PP
  11. Out of Time by the Rolling Stones: You're out of touch my baby My poor misguided baby...... Can you say Republican Victory on '04 PP
  12. Hey Rumr this aint no RC forum!
  13. Make'em Rumr I have the climb to test them on. How large could you go before the cams would get in the way while you are retracting? Here is the VG website: Valley Giant In my dealings with him he has been quick to respond even when I was just asking him his thoughts on other climbing related issues. Plus I think the VG is a pretty groovy ubnit.
  14. It would work if you could attach the “shims” to the cams securely. Any looseness and the unit would suck. A simple hex bolt attachment wouldn’t inspire me very much. Do you think the attachment point would be a weakness in any event?
  15. I feel like we are all the same. Other times I feel we are all very different. PP
  16. I suggest sending him an email asking when he thinks he will be making more. I have a #9 you can use in the interim.
  17. They are good and you can step on them! Hard to place in flaring cracks. Depending on what sizes you were looking for I’d consider buying the largest Friend (7”) or a Valley Giant #9 (9”) as well. You can then use a cam as a pusher piece. Plus a cam can be used in a greater variety of placements. PP
  18. MEGAN!
  19. Hmm Why don't you ask the folks working in the chicken facotries in Arkansas?

    Jack Bruce

The Elliot Smith post got me thinking about Jack Bruce. he almost died recently. Having played with a variety of insanely talented people he remains pretty much ignored. This recently released album is really good. The band is top notch if not eclectic. Carla seems to be the one really in charge. Live '75
  22. Here is a good article on Bush hatin'. This site has some good articles from time to time and my secret online crush (Megan McArdle) writes here occasionally. PP
  23. I have mostly climbed there in winter usually in a t-shirt but once brought full on winter gear before I realized how much more enjoyable rock climbing was. It can be way too hot in summer.
  24. OK I know you are a family of scientists but are you sure of your calculation. Your wife starts work at 7:30pm leaves school at 7:30pm gets home at say 8:pm eats dinner with you (1 hr) then works from 9:00pm to 11:pm M-F? Does anyone else think this is a bit of an exageration? PP
