I understand the relationship of C and K. I was considering Marx (along with Adam Smith) to be a classical economist. The classical economic theory represented a great improvement over let's say the mercantilists theory but some of their core foundations were not altogether accurate and lead some, like Marx, to develop equally inaccurate embellishments. Marginal analysis, like the elliptical orbits, significantly improved our understanding of the world.

What I wrote: You guys crack me up. My discussion was about the MR in general and in particular about a series of articles (some copies of which are probably stuck somewhere in a box in my garage) that attempted to provide a rational “radical” analysis of the 1970s oil crisis. I suggested that you read them and judge for yourself. Of course you would look around and realize that the downfall of the market driven economies did not materialize as predicted. That the magazine exists at all is a testament to how “apocalyptic cults can continue to exist after repeated prophesies have failed to come true.” By failed prophesies I was referring to the various attempts at analysis in the 70s. (Although the date range could easily be widened) I will say that the website has improved since PS’s death which by the way I posted here on CC.com. SC Quote: It is not a question of political allegiance but rather one of common sense. If reading an article on the solar system one would certainly consider it important to know if the writer was a still a believer in the Copernican System with all its “cycles” and “epicycles” well after Kepler had advanced the theory of planetary motion. Consider “Labor theory of Value” as a cycle and “exploitation” as an epicycle. Then consider Marshall, Menger and others as kepler. I do appreciate the McCarthy like way in which you smear me as being a McCarthyite.

That would require an amendment to the Constitution. The things Bush has done have involved basically ingoring laws and crafting new laws that expand his power that don't require amending the Constitution. CBS - google search it is your friend!

All that "vastness" sounds pretty amazing. Lots of dollars. Here is some more food for thought. (a) Iran's GDP 2005: 552,800,000,000 (b) US GDP 2005: 12,410,000,000,000 (a)/(b)~ 4.4% linky 1st quarter growth rate US economy 2006: 4.8 I just saw the Scott's link was to the Monthly Review. Those under 40 might not know the monthly review was a communist magazine for years edited by "marxist economist" Paul Sweezey. I can remember reading so called analysis of the 70s Oil Crisis from the Monthly Review back in the 70s. Go read them now and see how accurate they were. Read it and you'll see just how apocalyptic cults can continue to exist after repeated prophesies have failed to come true.

Actually FDR changed what was legal in the US by restructuring the supreme court. Much more of a change than pushing some boundries as Bush may have. Many economists have thoguht that some of FDRs plans may have extended/deepened the GR.

My point is out of context no one can tell anything. But you do smear by association. I am certain both Bush and Nixon would be libertarians compared to FDR. As a sidebar: Johnson declassified and leaked "secret" info to correct BS from a former governemnet official concerning the Vietnam war. Something as yet unproven concerning Mr & Mrs. Vanity Fair.

If Matt and I meet at the picnic we'll be talking important stuff like climbing!
-
Even here you can't just come out and say that there is no evidence to support your assertion. Using the term "probably" in this case is absurd. Attcking you? Do you deny that you are using a manipulative poll? Does taking a quote out of context not lend itself to abuse? What if I took a Matt quote and wrote a similar poll with a well known pedophile as the other choice? Wouldn't that be smearing you via trickery? I would think so.

AH I have a great GONG show from Eugene of all places! and another so so one when Bruford was with them..six months later he was drumming for Gen. (have a good tape of that too.) He sounded out of place with those bands I wonder how a stint in Can would have sounded.

matt - I would be happy to discuss issues with you however you spray falsehoods and when corrected run away. (See the gas prices thread) Here you obliquely attack the President through "lawyerly” tricks. AKA Smear tactics. Certainly a clear and direct presentation of the facts would be more convincing and encurage a warm hearted response. Step up to the plate and swing! Edit to add link: Gas price thread....or Bush let those %%$#@ Bin Ladens fly.

I have always held that the campaign finance reform laws were an insidious and unconstitutional intrusion into the political process. So we are in agreement with #1. I do think Bush has been restrained by our constitution and laws. So we do disagree here. Cato and PP agree on #3 I agree with #4 I just see it as business as usual and certainly better than if say any of the last two Dems had been elected President. So Cato and I agree 75% of the time. Oh Yea…check out the Snoqualmie Pass crags for some great jamming practice. Easy to TR. Clash City – Fun fingers/thin hand Train In Vain – Thin Hand Anne w/an E – Flared hand fingers. Mouse - Fingers

Rumr is right about some of the Oregon cracks being so damn good for jamming. How do you think Watts became the best crack climber in the states back in the 80’s? Bill’s list is full of fun climbs but Lion’s Chair and Sunshine aren’t what I would really call crack routes. If I was trying to learn to jam, I’d head to the Gorge.

Isn't Colony on the South side of the Valley to the right (west) of the Vortex? A Cantwell route. Where were you in '74?

Since some might not understand Matt's sense of humor I think it might make sense to post this: The 9/11 Commission Report (pp. 329-330):

Scott's 63 and no sell out Ok so 4ad is laying on the hype.....

This list seems to have morphed into a listing of fun crack routes at sorted by rating. Shouldn’t the routes be chosen for their learning potential. EG: Sag doesn’t really have a whole lot of jamming on it. Iron Horse should be on the list if only because of its ease to TR. Same with Clay. Pressure Drop is the perfect “classroom” Easy to TR; great pro for leading. Real jamming required. After you master it with the hand/foot pods stop using them. Rapping the DH? Stop off to TR p1 of Green Dragon. (or one of the routes to the right.)
