Do you have a right to destroy our communally owned property, namely, the environment, without the consent of thr rest of the owners? Did the Inuit and other peoples living in the High Arctic consent to having their main sources of food contaminted by the PCBs and Dioxins industrialized society has generated? I bet they didn't. Yet they have to live with the consequences in a way you and I don't. Where is the democracy in that? All I see is the strong trampling the weak. That's what your freedom of choice to choose DDT over mosquitoes has left you.

I will have to edit that to say "except for Lambone."

Takkakaw Falls. Second highest waterfall in canada , officially anyways. A good WI4 version of Shannon falls in the winter, ie scary hollow ice over lots of rushing water.

So what is it about the republic system which makes it better... electoral colleges? Hanging chads? Lobby groups purchasing the votes of senators and congressmen? I remind you socialism, as you call it, is an economic system or theory that has nothing to do with political systems like republic vs. federalism vs. constitutional monarchy (all forms of democracy).

Is it perfect? No, not even close. Is it the best thing going in the world right now? By far. If you think it sucks here try moving to and protesting in China. Stupid bastards in those pictures are to blind to realize how good they actually have it. Actually there are lots of democracies that seem to be doing it better than USA... best in the world? How do you define it? If you think it might be measurable by lifespan or quality of life index Sweden, Norway, Canada, Japan etc. doing much better than USA.

We did not name or define our loose organization. The KTK were named by Lambone for which service he is forever denied membership But the handing out of chestbeater awards is a public service designed to make fun of self important types who take themselves too seriously. If you don't like it don't beat your chest and you will never recieve the coveted TROPHY [ 08-27-2002, 03:20 PM: Message edited by: Dru ]

Get out those 800 foot topropes for Monkey Face And I imagine a 36 pitch long rope for toproping Sissy Summits.

You know, DFA, I think Tami Knight invented something just for you. She noted that a common embarrasment for 80s sport climbers was a hole in the Lycra in the bum area showing off the asshole. Her solution: ASSHOLE PATTERNED LYCRA in a fetching chocolate starfish print On you, though, it would be like gilding the lily.

DFA feels like corporate interest frequently runs roughshod over the greater good...It's unfortunate that these actions sometimes affect the little guy, too... Do not support those companies, you are free to take your business elsewhere; ultimately, that is how they get the message. There is no "greater good", it's a sham to fuck the little guy out of money for the government coffers. Of course it's the little guy that pays. How do companies pay for damaged goods? Raise prices. Greg W youre only free to take your business elsewhere when 1) the co. you hate aint a monopoly, or 2) you have a real choice of different companies, Im not talking Burger thing vs. McDead or Coke vs Pepsi here....

cooperative can outcompete corporation - look at MEC in Canada dominating outdoor retail market...

DFA there is a 18-pitch*, 5.10d sport route just around the corner there for ya... it is called Sisyphus Summits but everyone calls it Sissy Summits because of all the silly bolts. * set up as 25 m pitches but everyone links them together and climbs it as about 11 50m pitches So you can climb Ha Ling and still not have to deal with scary lycra-filling events like placing Tri Cams or clipping rusty pitons
