    Stoves!!!

  8. by mid november 90% o f the climbs are formed up. yes there are some that form later, but in general they are a minority. That just not true he must have been referring to the lineUPS for the TRs in Haffner Creek "Dude just lower off where the ice starts!"
  9. Talking is a traditional way of passing time spent not climbing. Why can't you edit your novel? Because you lack will. Neitzsche would call you a subman. But what's good about climbing for you? Calculating prominence and rise over run statistics? Making the little tick mark on your list?
  10. You know that Conan quote "To slay your enemies, burn their houses and sleep with their women" or whatever. What is good in climbing? Linking to the chains. Alpenglow as you leave camp. Topping out. Bomber handjam. Smell of wind coming off a glacier over an alpine meadow. One hit plastic blue. Getting gear in after a runout. Seeing a peak for the first time after staring at it on the map. Coming back to camp or the car and opening a beer. Having a partner who knows what to do when they can't hear you and vice versa. Finding a new problem. Finding new way to do an old problem. Styrosnow. Bing bing bing bing bing! Greasy burger in a pub. Fall colours and smell of woodsmoke. Sun coming up at an unplanned bivi. Talking shit with your friends. Getting in at midnight and waking up in the morning as sun hits your bivi bag in the parking lot. Someone random coming up to you and giving you a beer because they know you online. Someone making the first repeat of your route. Making the first repeat of someone else's route. Taking your shoes off at the end of a long route. And yours?
  11. i googled it and found Of disease that comes on suddenly and severely; dazzling, stunning. These days, the medical fraternity almost has a monopoly on this word (as an alternative to the much more common fulminant, which means the same thing), though only the most academic of clinicians seem to use it. Outside medicine, it is if anything even more rare, an alternative to words like ?brilliant? or ?dazzling?, as here in a review in the Minneapolis Star Tribune in 1999: ?Heavy on elan and the damper pedal, pianists such as Simon, Earl Wild, Jorge Bolet and Byron Janis wow you with foudroyant playing?. But anybody with an interest in naval history will know it best as the name for several Royal Navy ships at various periods, such as one of Nelson?s flagships in the Mediterranean in 1799 (and there is now a French submarine with the same name). The word is indeed French, from foudroyer, to strike with lightning, so it makes a very good name for a fighting ship. cool i did not know that one either. how fremd.
