  1. Simulclimbed Solar Slab & approach gully in 2 hours. Took about 3 hours to descend via SS descent as descibed in Swains guide. At one point had to grab a boulder off a ledge, wedge it in a crack, sling it and rap off it. Did Black Orpheus with same partner and it took us 1 hr. from top of route back to the base via the Black Orpheus descent as given in Swain. [ 10-30-2001: Message edited by: Dru ]

"when peeing in a public urinal, always let out a moan of relief so other men know how long you held it in your bladder for."
  5. what is worse, lighting a fire or carving 4 presidents heads out of granite??
  6. Beware of the Solar slab rappel descent. easy to get lost & endless rappels of doom of sketchy equalized chickenheads. better to go down the descent shown for black orpheus.

I think I missed this ratings thing. I must have been pretty highly rated I guess For suggestions I would like to see the new Private Messages indicator back at the bottom of the board so you know if you should check or not without visiting your profile.
  9. To let the sand deposits naturally regenerate on the holds?
  10. "To scramble around on a few little rocks is not, of course, the same as Mountaineering" - Lionel Terray describing Fontainebleau.
  11. early december unless the ice gods blow their frosty breath o'er the lands of lillooet earlier. maybe we could drown caveman in beer for a virgin sacrifice (your hand does not count capt )
  12. I'm gonna Dress up as Ray Borbon steal his women and drink his beer. 2 friends of mine dressed up as a couple once. She was Medusa and he was a guy she had turned to stone- into a sport climb actually. he was painted grey with lycra and little quickdraws made of accessory biners and a euro earring.
  13. bin Sprayin is still in the cave!!!!
  14. Maybe Kennedy was an alien?? Did they get autopsy footage?
  15. I hope it (96 all over again) happens sooner rather than later because the publishing houses are starting to run out of tragedies to churn out best sellers about.
  16. In the spirit of further revisionist, politically correct history I will state that Mike Adamson owes me 20 or so beers, and that I just single handedly chopped every bolt at Frenchmans and used all the hangers to retro bolt Outer Space, ROTC and Givlers Cracks. Now they are safe and enjoyable leads. If Hillary didn't get hauled up Everest then why wasnt he out there with Boukreev saving climbers in the big storm? msg for Mike Adamson

All right Halling and Adamson gonna kick bin Ladin's butt back to the 20th Century!! Dont forget to pick up some chunks of Buddha as souvenirs for the girls back home
  18. I will catch flak from this from the dog owners but my opinion is, if your dog isn't going to climb, it shouldn't be at a climbing area. Seen too many dogs either distract belayers, or climbers, or get in fights with other dogs, or wildlife like skunks or rattlesnakes, or get hit by rockfall, to believe the average mutt belongs at the base of the crag. However -If Pancho the WonderDog onsights 5.11 in his HangDog harness and Woof Woof Roof slippers then by all means take him climbing! If you have seeing eye dogs why not ropegun dogs for the muscularily challenged... [This message has been edited by Dru (edited 10-23-2001).]
  19. quote: Originally posted by Terminal Gravity: I did some little nerve damage thing in my neck last week (stupid human tricks) and my arm is 1/2 numb. I felt my knees needed a break from the last two weekends. So, I thought I would take it easy and I went out to do this local 5.8ish 2 pitch climb with this 65 year old Tai Kwan Do instructor friend of mine who has just climbed in gyms a bit. I have never ever seen any newbie so smooth and clear headed on rock 200ft above the deck. He had a bit of technical difficulty on some of the moves, but totally kept it together in his head. We rappeled the route (I belayed his first 50 ft.) and when I said to just lean back, arch his back and keep pressure on his feet, he did. I was amazed and had a good time. Too bad you didnt run into any Banditos he could have kicked them into submission too. I saw Iron Monkey on Friday night. "Shadow Kick! Hiyah! Ya! Ya!"
  20. will was it montezumas from the dinner or the central oregon water that did you in?? or the altitude ??
  21. ... and Converse Allstar type hightops for rock pitches or maybe felt overboots if you need extra friction like on Waddington summit chimneys.
  22. Big White (Kelowna) opened yesterday with 1 foot of "base"
  23. Babu Chhiri Sherpa slept on top of Everest. JT Norgay was grandson of Tenzing Norgay that hauled Hillarys ass up Everest.
  24. it was a real alien in that autopsy footage.
