So, summers gone, winter's not here yet. I have nothing to do but Vantage and Smith for the next month or two. Just wondering, what is everybody planning for this winter? I'm planning mine and looking for ideas? Ice, Ranier, Hood, backcountry descents....

uh, yeah......it's either going to catch your ass or it isn't. anyway, I just wanted to say- I ordered something from them on-line last monday, and it was sitting on my porch that wednesday- impressive.

My goal has been to climb every climb listed in the first "select climbs" book by Jim Nelson. Im about 1/4 of the way done. Giving myself 10 years to have them all done. I feel the cruxes will be Eve Dearborn Memorial on Index and (at my current freeclimbing level) Tooth and Claw on Lexington Tower.

I wanna finish a damn wall route in yosemite!!!!!!!!......I've bailed off of the nose(once), the prow(once), and the south face of wash. column(3times!). Every time I talk with someone right after they've finished El Cap, Im so envious- they have a certain glow to them (and a certain smell ha ha)

oh, not including bad weather- I missed that.

most unrewarding- dragontail, this summer- we were in such a white out, we weren't even sure we were on the summit!

mt hood: on a clear day i could see across the entire state of washington, ranier, adams, st helens, stuart, & baker- and to the south, you could see the whole line of oregon valcanoes & and some guy redpointing heinous cling at smith!

i agree, i think that would make a great photo: someone sitting on that toilet, jberg in the backround, just as the sun is setting!

very well said Pope! Trads are definitely LESS conservative. Spend the night in joshua tree and youre likely to here people raging 'till 3:00 am, followed by a day of runout sandbags. Ever camp at smith? Its quite time at 10:00-

I second city park- it starts with a bolt ladder and then joins a straightfoward crack-easy to solo, tie off to the big tree at the base and feed yourself out slack using 2 clove hitches as a belay. You will need a second rope though, to rappel back down and clean your gear.
