  1. I"ve never skied the upper sections of the Fuhrer, but you can ski up to where the route gets narrower. It makes for a good day ski. Like others have said April and May might be good times. While I have had some fun ski trips in June, it falls into the late season and other activities might be better. A couple routes on the south side of Adams are fun ski trips either as a long day or an overnight
  2. Hey Eli, Thanks for posting your TR. A couple of friends and I climbed the Wishbone Arete in 1986. I've attached one photo I converted from a slide image. Interestingly, while at the southside hut we found a note to an unknown climbing partner telling the person that they were descending but were concerned. We never heard anything more about that but did see helicopters occasionally flying nearby while we were climbing. I hear the park service is working on the trail system due to prior damages.
  3. Das Tooth is on the must climb list. Other peaks to consider soloing include Sahale. A few years ago, I had fun soloing the West Ridge of Forbidden. There are no extended sections of upper 5th Class climbing.
  4. New grizzlies in the North Cascades sound great, but reintroducing Suciasaurrus rex would be rad. It is the official Washington State dinosaur https://www.heraldnet.com/news/suciasaurus-rex-may-become-washingtons-official-dinosaur/ While introducing new grizzlies may be a good thing, I imagine a few new migrants are traveling south from BC

Mountain Gear in Spokane used to be a good shop, unfortunately they are closed, https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2019/dec/22/off-belay-mountain-gear-is-closing-after-37-years-/
  6. I remember Steve bringing Terminal Gravity beer to one or a couple of our events. Sorry to hear he passed away.
  7. Love it! John is awesome
  8. A couple of friends and I climbed the north face in 1986. Good memories of that trip!
  9. Snow is coming and Crystal Mountain is opening lower slopes on Sunday, but then rain on snow is predicted later this or next week
  10. Not frequently, but I have run into people on mountain bikes blasting a boom box as they ride. I don't want to hear their music even if I like the song.
  11. Cool report and pictures! A couple of friends and I climbed the route in the 80s.
  12. Trip: Alpine Lakes - Kendall Peak Traverse Trip Date: 07/23/2023 Trip Report: Solo of the Kendall Peak ridgeline. I've done this once before and had fun both times Start on the standard PCT route north of Snoqualmie Pass and travel past views of Guy peak the travel east and up on a popular ski slope. From there you get on the ridge and head north. I got views of one or more people who took the direct route to the summit from the PCT. From the summit views of the ski area and I-90 are good. After descending the standard scramble route to the PCT, I continued on the PCT for summertime views of the Kendall Adventure zone Gear Notes: Nothing special Approach Notes: Standard PCT route, then cut up and east towards the Kendall ridgeline.
  13. On your map Mt Saint Elias is listed as Mt Sir Donald. Sir Donald should be on that list but it's near Rogers Pass
  14. The manager of the outdoor program at my university worked as a climbing ranger in the Tetons prior to when I knew him. He told me if he wanted to keep working as a ranger in the Tetons, he would have needed to attend a police training school. Apparently being able to ticket drivers in the park for speeding or whatever was a bigger priority for that park.
