allthumbs Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 From: The Sunday Herald New research to be published next year will provide powerful evidence that oral sex can cause mouth cancer. Doctors who first suggested a form of mouth cancer could be linked to the same sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer have found more data to back their controversial theory. Two years ago, the group from Johns Hopkins University in the US published a paper suggesting the human papilloma virus (HPV), the cause of most cervical cancer, can also cause mouth cancer. Like so many medical studies that later turn out to be "Junk Science" I would not get too excited about this until it has been verified and re-verified. I volunteer to be a tester…ladies? trask http://www.sundayherald.com/29825 Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 What's this, Trask? You'll be smokin' poles for science? Good on ya, mate! Quote
sk Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 DFA last time I checked boys with ummm poles don't have a cervics Quote
Off_White Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Muffy, both genders carry the virus, hence men are at risk for mouth cancer as are women, who have the added risk of cervical cancer. Of course, this is assuming the study means anything. The cervical cancer link is sounding pretty real. Quote
iain Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 well, so ends another day at work. I'm glad to finish it with such a fine read. Quote
sk Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 granted any one can carry it, But I figured when doing the study, that because men do not get cancer from HPV as women do that they would umm have to go that way Quote
