Hey CC!

I have a -25 down sleeping bag from feathered friends. I'm trying to get it compressed so that it will fit in my sleeping bag compartment. I have a sea to summit large compression sack. I got it all the way down, all the sides pulled to the max but it is still fairly big enough that I cannot put it in the compartment. Any help with this situation would be nice. Do I need a different compression sack? I have a anther osprey 70 for a backpack.

Thanks CC!

what is a sleeping bag compartment?? does your backpack have a division at the bottom of it? If it doesn't fit in there on its own just get rid of the division (probably a zip inside, right?) and live with it. its a -25f down bag is huge no matter what, so its going to take up a lot of space, plus i believe it is possible to overcompress down..

if you can compress the compression sack more than it allows, try a smaller compression sack.

if the compartment section won't come out, use a knife and get it out. those things just make packing a pack hard. And to be honest, I am suprised that osprey put one in theirs. a compartment for a sleeping bag is a bad sign. Dans designs used ot have one but it was easy to remove and replace.

another question. why have such a warm bag? there are very few places where that bag is needed.

I'm with Gene, sleeping bag compartments are useless. Cut it.

Or, better yet, get a +20/30 bag and a smaller pack (40-50l). The 70l could still come in handy for 6+ day trips, but a smaller pack is way more versatile and lighter.
